Description
Jordyn doesn't know much about her past before waking up in the facility, but it doesn't really bother her. According to Father, she used to be a superhero; using her powers for good, assisting the police and catching criminals. With no knowledge of her life before her injury, returning to that identity seemed as good a goal to aim for as any, in terms of her rehabilitation and recovery. It's what Father wants her to be, and with everything she owes him, how could she say no? Only, as things progress, and she's allowed more freedom in the outside world for the sake of Father's mission, Jordyn begins to realise that her origin might not be as clear-cut as it was made out to be.
A superhero living weapon whump series featuring many lesbians, sad women, manipulative old men, god-like eldritch beings, unethical science, probably a few identity crises, a confusing definition of the word 'sister,' and one very unfortunate ghost, haunting the whole thing.
NOTE: this is explicitly a whump series first and foremost, and will contain many topics that readers may find disturbing or distressing, including torture, abuse, manipulation, gaslighting, and generally just a whole lot of people being miserable. Heed the warnings!
NOTE 2: adding this because apparently the last one wasn't clear enough, THIS STORY CONTAINS GRATUITOUS AMOUNTS OF PAIN. THE STORY IS ABOUT EXPLORING THE CHARACTERS' PAIN AND THEIR JOURNEYS THROUGH EXPERIENCING IT AND OVERCOMING IT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE CHARACTERS BEING HURT AND MISERABLE MOST OF THE TIME WITH ONLY THE SLIGHTEST HOPE OF SALVATION, DON'T READ THIS. thank you :)

- RR GoblinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'll start with the superficial stuff. Grammar and writing are excellent. As someone who is easily put off by bad syntax this passes with flying colors. The descriptions, especially during fights, are very well done and its very easy to get immersed into this story. Everything flows very nicely and seems very thoroughly proof read. 5 stars!!
On to the plot!! The content warnings are very real and relevant!! Jordyn is constantly being put through a meat grinder physically and psychologically. However, I think abuse is handled very well in this story even though it may be a bit heavy handed at times. The way it is presented, the way Jordyn is affected by it and the way other characters speak about it feels very grounded. The story flows very well and, despite the fact that many chapters are a one way ticket to trauma town, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the next glimpse of hope for our protagonist.
Speaking of protagonists! Let's move on to the characters. At the moment 90% of the spotlight is on Jordyn due to her circumstances. I've seen countless stories on RR about people being tortured into perfect soldiers. 99% of time trauma is just used as superficial a way to make the character seem dark or edgy. That is not the case with Jordyn. She feels like a human person with her own personality. You can see how the way she is treated affects the way she thinks and why she remains in the cycle of abuse. You can't help but root for her. de Vygon is a character who seems cartoonishly evil but there are hints of there being a lot more to him which I'm excited to discover. The other characters, while having appeared less often, also have hinted depth so I'm also excited to see the author flesh them out more as well.
Overall, if you can handle a story that heavily deals with the subject of abuse but also has lesbians with superpowers I would definitely recommend this! - Arbalest12Royal Road★ 0.5Excessive torture porn. Pass. I have nothing else to add to this review other than that it's needlessly right violent even with the tags. The sexual section is pointless and adds nothing to the story. So far, the entire story is just sick manipulation of the MC for no reason or than torture for the sake of itself.
