We learned fast: killing them makes you stronger. Kill even more and you’re given a choice—strength, speed, endurance, or something people are calling Majik. Kill enough and you unlock abilities. The catch? You can only evolve while unconscious, and the process feels like your nerves being ripped out and replaced with liquid fire.

I didn’t ask for this. Hell, I didn’t evenbelievein this kind of shit. I’ve played the games, read the books, watched the movies, but none of them tell you how it really feels. The stink of piss, shit and blood on your first kill. The crunch of cartilage collapsing under your thumbs. The way a skull cracks open like a slush-filled coconut onto the pavement.

The worst part? I’m changing. Every kill comes easier. Every act of violence feels more natural. Am I still doing this for my family—or am I starting to enjoy it? And in the background, nothing adds up. There are more secrets than answers.

I'm just a father. I'm not a hero. I'll make mistakes, I'll hide, I'll play it safe. This isn’t a bloody game.

I used to think all life was precious… until it gave EXP.

Ok, so for this is one of the best apocalypse storys i've ever read, it completely blew my expectation out of the water, its perfectly and realistically describes all the horror and hope that you would expect to see in this situation, there is no comically evil person or some weird national pride its all about humanity, and so the villains / evil actions are just worse because of it. This story shows the lows humans can sinks and how some are a candle in the dark.
the main character is not some badass, or no fear hero, hes a regular guy whos trying to protect his family, which just this all the more beautiful and heroic.
the character are all pretty 3D, and have great interactions with each other even from when thay are first introduced as they are already fleshed out so to speak
the grammer is good, with some errors here and there but the story it self more than make up for any defiencies
basically this story is just amazing 10/10, one of the best stories in not only the apocalypse category but just in gerneral, each chapter can feel like a roller coaster of emotion that just leaves you breathless from the highs and lows

Acualy? Iam getting pretty interested in the story! Its dark and deep! And it slowly but surely building up to be great story. Dialogies are nicely written and system is prety interesting even when he is not fully showed yet, I will review one more time once it will get more chapters!

I love how some of the reactions are more realistic. There are people who will lash out when they're afraid, but here they lash out while screaming and flailing and going "Ew ew ew -- what's that? Kill it!"
I am the kind of person that quotes lines to myself dramatically while giggling and the MC literally provides the lines.
