Description

After a strange incident, a young programmer, Bill learns there's a lot more than meets the eye with his pet raccoon, Ranger. He ends up in a ship hurtling through space, and there's love in the air. Will Bill be able to come to terms with the situation? Will he ever get back to Earth?

Note: This story contains male homosexual (gay) romance of a somehwat unconventional type. Beware if that's not something you're interested in reading. Everything is kept PG-13 at worst, though.

    Bill loves his pet raccoon, Ranger, who one day knocks him out and takes him into space. Bill and Ranger, the "anthropomorphic raccoon", begin to recognize their romantic feelings for one another. Description falters in plenty of places - such as raccoons having blushing ears and such. The budding romance is a bit awkward, but surprisingly it was not the thing that gave me the most questions. It was the worldbuilding info-dump about the history of the secretly super-intelligent space-faring raccoons. With that opening, I was pretty much set on finishing this to see where it would go. For a romance, it ends up having an okay ending but I was left in mild confusion about this piece.
    There is no suspension of disbelief to be kept - from the beginning to the end there was enough to cause a break or at least a pause. I'd say for anyone curious about this, just read it - though you may have one eyebrow up during most of your read.
