Description

Life on Earth was nearly eradicated in World War III, but using alien technology, the Patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection built a new society from the ashes. He created what he called the Constructed Reality MMORPG, Primacy Online, a world so real that the players could not distinguish it from reality. After outlawing wars between the city-states on Earth, he declared that all wars would be fought inside the world of Primacy Online.

Thirteen hundred years later, the release of Primacy Online VI: Legacy of Balor signals the beginning of World War IX. Players from Earth's city-states will be locked in cryogenic capsules and play Primacy Online in War Mode. Their achievements in the game will determine the victory rankings of their city-states, but if they die in the game, they will die for real.

Patrick Armagh found flaws in the game mechanics of Primacy Online and exploited them to rise to the peak of the game. But when the Church declared he was cheating, he was perma-banned from the game. Now, the Church has declared that Patrick and all the other perma-banned cheaters will be included in a special Church group for World War IX, where they can earn redemption for their sin of cheating. However, Morgan Danan, Speaker of the City of Mann, and the generally acknowledged number one player of Primacy Online, has a deal for Patrick. With her help and his method of cheating, he has the chance to become a virtual god within Primacy Online, but by taking up her offer, he will become an enemy of the Church.

Like a significant percentage of Primacy Online players, Patrick suffers from an ultimately fatal, degenerative nervous system disorder. He has less than five years to live. With death staring him in the face and nothing to live for, he accepts Morgan Danan's offer, and once again, enters Primacy Online as Crom Cruach, a disgraced legend.

Will Crom Cruach, once again, become a legend, or will he be destroyed by the Church?

What secrets has the Church hidden inside the game?

I really like this story. Characters are very interesting. World is cool, the mix of fantasy en tech is sets a very nice backdrop for the different characters(main and side) to interact with each other. There are hints of misteries that are yet to be uncovered, which also sets a cool tone. Excelent editing. 10/10 or well... 5/5 in this case. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Great!!! I enjoy fantasy books that make me think about the world inside it, and this one is really interesting.

The story's extremely interesting and so far the plot seems very unique. The characters are also extremely lifelike and believable. The only problem is that the grammer could be a lot better, nothing that couldn't be solved by an editor and still good for royalroad though.

The 2 main characters so far are rather refreshing with how different they are looks wise compared to most MC's. And the rather unique worlds have really given the story and the characters some depth.
First minor flaw is the mention of rolls (as in dice rolls) when deciding the outcomes of certain things doesn't really fit. Along with this is the mention of how he isn't doing enough damage to cut through certain things, which I would feel would be better off with just saying they have thicker skin or something. I also feel the numbers you are using for xp and health and stats are going up way too fast. They are only level 10 and already have stats in the hundreds and xp in the thousands. Tone it back a bit or you will be dealing with numbers in the millions by the time they are like level 40.
But the major flaw is the grammar. This book is in serious need of a proofreader/editor. Even a simple re-read by the author before posting should let them spot tons of glaring typos and mixed up words.

World building is slow but kinda natural(ish). MC is interesting enough even if he and Raven don't act like 80 and 25000 yr old ancient beings. I enjoy the beginning and look forward to catching up with the rest. The world build is a nice spin on the trope of world=video game, and the explanation for the OP MC being a literal cheater is hilarious. A bit too much of shifting between happy overweight kinda dark Norse Viking like fat warrior, and full dark anti-hero murderer from decades of warfare.
But goddamit if the MC isn't so fucking idiotic to not realize the alien technology connects to a real world. After being told, to his face by an ancient god whoms name he was drawn to as a child, and his 25000 yr old "friend".

The story is good so far. (I'm only at 2.3 at the moment.)
However it could use some editing. There are a few grammar issues, but the more frequent problem is the syntax issue. An attentive readthrough will help spot those issues.
