Description

Many are those who look to the gifted, the enhanced, with jealousy and envy. The usual super strength, speed, and flight. The power to conjure phantasmal creatures. Shift into other beings, gaining their strengths. Perfect manipulation and mastery of their body. The power to influence plants, or to heal the most grievous injuries. To harness the sun, or manipulate desert sand. To flow between bodies of water, or store things in personal spaces. When all of these and more exist, who couldn't look to such an assortment and think: if only it were me?

Ludus Silva lived in the Woods, and thought, like any mundane, much about the what if's of life. Despite that, his life little depended on the enhanced and so his thoughts rested on them as he saw them; on the news and in his dreams. He enjoyed the pleasures of his semi-secluded life, so the ugly jealousy and envy towards the enhanced never had a chance to take root. Hunting, gathering, building his house, spending time with his parents, and selling his excess in the city. Those were his pleasures, though routine they may be. It was most definitely not an ordinary upbringing, but it was his and it was what he had known.

Of course, if a kid cared not of the enhanced, then it was good odds they cared about video games. What else to do in the middle of the Woods when the day's tasks were done?

And so we come to the inevitable question of what makes Ludus Silva so special?

Well, that'd have to be his power, of course.

As of chapter 4 I'd call this professional quality writing with a solid start to world building. It's too early to say anything about the plot.

A fantastic story about a young man who lives in a world of supers.
The main character's power is predictably, that of an RPG leveling system. This includes, statistics, Skills, Abilities, Titles, Achievements, Race, Level, Rarity, etc. It isn't some ill-defined power either, and doesn't break reality, it is reasonably explained in his Origin, or how he attains his power, and seems balanced and intriguing.
The first chapter alone was enough to write a review. The system is so fleshed out, the premise so interesting, that I couldn't help but leave a thought. So far the interactions between the scarce characters are not awkward or stilted on dialogue, in fact, they seem fairly smooth.
I'm excited to read more and see what the author does with this!

This is a good story about a boy/man gaining a power leveling system, like from an RPG, in a world of supers and meta-humans.
His power isn't some ill-fitting thing, that doesn't fit in the setting, but is neatly explained by the circumstances of his awakening. It is presented as a major power, but not something immediately overpowered and seems fairly balanced.
The story is set in a first-person perspective following our protagonist, who can best be described as a hunting lumberjack, with a passion for gaming, bit bland but fun nonetheless.
All in all, it is a competently written story about a boy/man gaining and living with his superpower and isn't too fastpaced. I'm looking forward to more from the author and this story.
