Description
Joseph ‘The Wrath’ Haythorn was old, worn out, ready to let The End claim him, as it had claimed Earth. Yet, instead of perishing in the apocalypse, he had seemingly been taken to… someplace else. Restored to youth and craving answers, he sets out only to discover that beings out of fantasy exist here. Monsters, bandits, and other dangerous creatures stalked these lands… yet, that wasn’t anything new to Joseph.

- CladoselacheRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Isekais are, somewhat deservingly, looked down upon as formulaic and repetitive in their premise. Some flavor of loser is magically transported from our modern Earth to a fantasy world where they actually find a purpose in life, often by leveraging their combat skills honed by hundreds of hours of hardcore gaming.
Post-Apocalyptic Survivor in Another World, however, is a much different approach to the genre. The protagonist, Joseph Haythorn, is not a pathetic NEET. He is strong, intelligent, and extremely competent. He arrives in the world of Faenor having left a desolate Earth, devoid of purpose. With his youth restored and a few hundred years of technological superiority on his side, he sets out to explore this new world and destroy whatever evil he comes across.
Style: The writing style is good. Formatting is good and consistent. The story is easy to read and easy on the eyes, with few exceptions. The descriptions are vivid. Action scenes are especially good, being easy to follow and well detailed. Indents on new lines would be nice, but that's just my personal preference.
Grammar: The grammar is good. I only recall a few instances of strange phrasing, though I struggle to remember exactly where they are located, which should clue you in on how minor they were.
Story: The story has been great and very enjoyable, though as of Chapter 23, it has felt a little short-sighted. This makes sense, however. As a survivor, Joseph thinks largely in terms of immediate needs and wants. His long-term plan is simply "survive" and all he has done so far has served that interest. As a result, however, the story has felt a little meandering. I am optimistic, however, that as Joseph makes friends and enemies he will find a quest of some kind to complete. In every other aspect, however, the story is excellent. There are no one-off encounters or pointless diatribes, and every element is used more than once, keeping the reader wondering when a character or story element is going to co - Cria de ElfoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is simply incredible. Of course, it is full of clichés, conveniences and many things about the MC's past are very poorly explained, such as the apocalypse of his world. That said, it is a very entertaining read. There are not many other works that deal with this theme and that makes it very cool to follow. The MC also gets stronger at an unexpected pace for someone who only has technology a little more advanced than ours. I really like the balance of power in the work.
- LordShenanigansRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was not completely sold from the title but gave it a shot, and I am loving it! There is quite a bit of adventuring going on with few of the tropes I was expecting to happen. The story and pacing reminds me of the of couple of sessions of D&D with friends, primarily the whimsy and what is around the next corner. I plan to keep reading this till the end.
- OgamOgatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a really well-constructed story written at a professional level. It's such a pleasant change in comparison with most of the stuff on RR!
Other good points - no blue boxes or System references, no endless listing of statistics, and to put the gold capstone on it, someone is obviously reading through each chapter carefully before publication and removing any obvious errors. - SkarabraeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very good story.
Style: I like this story's style a lot. It has literary devices, in particular a lot of imagery that helps with the story's tone and set various scenes within the story. I was able to spot some foreshadowing too as I read more of the story. The author has incredibly good word choice and is able to set the tone very well with it. The author's way of writing is also unique. And I can safely say that the tone fits the story perfectly.
Story: The story is great. it is paced at just the right pace. It develops at the right pace too. So, no complaints regarding that. The story itself is about a person from a post-apocalyptic world being Isekai'd to a fantasy world. That is a great premise, and it is developed very well. I like how the author handles languages too with the MC having to learn the new world's language over time. You do not see that very often.
Grammar: I couldn't find any grammatical errors. That does not mean they don't exist, but if they do, they are most likely not distracting enough for most people to notice them.
Character: The characters are really good. They are mostly well-depicted, realistic, and three-dimensional. The only ones that aren't are very minor characters. The main character is the highlight. How he reacts to the fantasy world he finds himself in is incredibly interesting, and he gets some very good scenes.
Overall, I highly recommend this story. - xicsessRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm very glad that I no longer look at the titles of books and just jump in. The book (so far) is a ton of fun, cool gadgets, magic, tech, and has a ton of potential. The main character is reasonable, with his own hang ups. I thought at first there was some thinness in the characterization of people in this world, but it's more likely that in an uneducated and medieval setting - the primalness and pettiness would be more unleashed.
- drajitshRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Yes, yes I know post apocalyptic stories are a some a dozen, and so are isekai. But, this is the 1st i have read that the apocalypse survivor gets isekaied.
This has both tech and fantasy/magic. Even more importantly, it has romance -- which is harder to find than hen's teeth. - lilliumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0PASIAW is another great book in progress I can't get enough of the author's world-building and characters. Having come from SSIAW I expected to be dissuaded by a more heavily fantasy centric story as the Sci-fi elements helped keep SSIAW more grounded in the world building. PASIAW however keeps the same fantastic world building and reasoning that makes the story feel like a lived in world with cause, effect, and history behind it. Great read!
- the_crusaderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far this story has been a fun mix of science fiction and fantasy with nivilacks usual attention to detail, brutal fight scenes and amazing writing. With a story that sucks you in and keeps you coming back for more and I can't wait to see what happens in the coming chapters
- SoldiergeneralRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A lot of light novels I tend to read are very serious in tone without balancing out how much it entails. Author does a good job of allowing serious things to occur while not being overly dramatic and keeping things funny and jovial. Characters are still being developed, but there is a good balance between the two characters as well.
