As the universe slowly transforms and new laws take hold, everyone within his universe is cast into the trial—a crucible of survival and transformation. Before being set on his path, Alistair encounters a system avatar—a brief and enigmatic guide who offers little explanation, guidance, or aid before sending him and the rest of his universe into the unknown.Stranded on a trial world, Alistair must fight to survive. Delving into dungeons, hunting great beasts, and navigating the diverse Trial Worlds and Subspaces, he begins a desperate quest to reunite with his loved ones.Along the way, he finds his soulmate—a demoness from another world. Together, they face the trial, forge bonds, and grow stronger as they uncover what the future holds for them and the rest of their universe.
Story focus
The story will focus on Alistair and his progression, emphasizing combat and the comprehension of concepts (schools of magic) and personal development in the trial as he makes new friends and explores the new reality in he finds himself.Later, faction warfare, Colony development, exploring new environments and worlds, Intrigue, and fixing hismisunderstanding of the system become a much larger part of the plot. The story contains some body cultivation later on (MC won't do classic cultivation (golden core, etc.); it is easier to think of it as body modification or, more precisely, Body Enchantment.

- TweetyBirdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I tend to get easily distracted by other stories and yours managed to catch and keep my attention, well done. I am looking forward to continuing to read this story. Amazing writing. I will recommend this story to more friends and who knows maybe even start a little story telling group for friends. Anyways, 10/10. Im in love.
- DizzakRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the story its very good and for me the chapters grammar are not so bad since he has edited them with the help of the comments and other things ( but it could still use improvements). The story beings like most Lit rpgs i have read and i like how he uses his Kinetic powers its enjoyable. However for some people the Mc might not be acting like his age but to me its not much of a problem.
- DweiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Paths of Akashic is a progression fantasy story with a well though out power system, and the author has made it very easy to follow the power-ups of the protagonist.
Style: It's well written, with an easily understandable, yet not too simple prose. It's comfortable to read, and has great pacing to boot. I found no issues with it whatsoever, I think the author did a great job.
Story: Now, I loved this. Immediately it caught my attention, and I didn't want to put the book down. The story has good pacing, which makes all the action scenes and moments of respite (all very well written) even more satisfying. It's a promising story that doesn't do many info-dumps.
Character: Alistair is a fun character to follow. I like his personality, and how tackles obstacles. The events and how the characters are written allow their growth to be satisfying, and feel deserved. It's a grat change from the power fantasy stories I come across often.
Grammar: Nothing immersion breaking, but a typo here and there happens. Doesn't detract from the story.
Overall, I enjoyed this. anyone who likes litrpg books should absolutely give this a try, and it makes me happy that it's becoming more popular here. - ElieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0About 30 chapters in and I find it entertaining. A bit more freeform than you traditional litrpg where the MC can evolve his abilities as he learns them. Some things seem to come too easily (flight, blink) but still an engaging story worth some of your time to read. I look forward to seeing where future arcs take this story
- FailingAdultRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very good storyline which progresses at a good pace. The magic system is different and gives the story a refreshing feeling to it. It's awesome to see a realist MC who doesn't instantly forget family and friends. Would highly recommend to fans of HWFWM and Primal Hunter. Only wish there was more chapters already!
- L.E. FrenchRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The writing is solid and the descriptions are nice. I know the author shared it being a first story, so I'm very impressed by the writing quality. It reads smoothly and I thought it had a nice tone. The MC even has some humor to his voice and I found that brought the story to life.
Story: I was pleased to get to see Alistair in action quickly without losing characterization. We get to see him testing out his new abilities and getting to know the world while also facing some enemies early on. The story seems very promising and I enjoyed what I read.
Grammar: I did not notice a lot of grammar issues. There's an overuse of semicolons with some not being use correctly. Many of these could be turned into commas. It's a clean read, though.
Character: Alistair is a good hero and shows the kind of resilience I was hoping to see from him. Even though the story gets to action quickly, we do get time to get to know and we also get to see his reaction to the powers he chose, which makes him feel believable. His direct thoughts are blended well with exposition, which builds his character nicely without slowing down the story. He's a great MC to take us on this adventure!
This is a great read! I definitely recommend it! This is an author to watch for considering that this first work is already of such quality. - nellyhope23Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0A well-crafted system apocalypse story with engaging main characters. There is a lot of potential for growth, and I like the magic system. It follows the normal system descends and people go into a tutorial etc, but the world itself is unique.
The story is decently paced and it doesnt drag, with a good balance between action, development, and exploration of the world.
Overall, this is a solid concept which can grow into more. - SasiZhopuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just finished book 1 of the series and gotta say I’ve greatly enjoyed it!
The story way a little bland for the first 10 chaps but by chap 20 you’re getting hooked pretty much.
MC isn’t a hero, behaves rationally and has “normal” relations with his love interest (with a little twist, but it feels natural nonetheless).
The pacing is great so far: there are time skips and detailed explanations where needed.
I have a very good impression so far so I decided to leave a review at this point to promote the story to other novel enjoyers😎 - That_Guy_Who_WritesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So first things first, I am giving this story a 5/5, because I enjoy it. Simple as that.
This isn't groundbreaking, or even perfectly written. But it is fun, and I have even chuckled a few times. The writing style isn't pretentious, it feels natural. It doesn't insist upon itself, or drag on. The cultivation aspect is interesting, and after reading enough Chinese manhua to shame my ancestors, I can say it keeps it light, and uncomplicated, while still providing enough detail.
I will revisit this rating as I progress.
A few things I have made note of along the way.
I picked this up randomly as I saw it on the my suggestions. And started reading thinking, wth, why not?
*I had to check if this was the writer of Primordial Hunter, because in the beginning there were VERY similar aspects and verbiage. But as I read things began to diverge, and I was... pleasantly surprised by the direction this took. It wasn't power leveling to insane levels, fighting eldritch horrors, bangin' broads and explosions (like some stores I have since deleted and felt shame reading). It went in a direction I often ask myself when reading system stories, "Why are Protags always psychopaths/sociopaths, who forget about their families/friends, and their families/friends, pets, pretty much their old lives? (Or the author hand waves some BS about shitty family life... so F'em).
*This story doesn't feel like the system came, everything changed, and now I'm ok being a murder-hobo with OP Powers, and the strongest of strong backers so I can be a dick kind of story.
It feels like the system came, I am going to carry on, and find a way to reunite with the people I care about.
*There was a few mentions about deadbeat family members. At first I thought it was hand wave-y, but I can see how it would make sense with Protag's GF having mommy issues, and how that could form a bond. I want to remain non-judgemental here. A lot writers add aspects to their writing from their personal lives, so I don't think thi - Marc1000Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I liked it enough to subscribe on patreon. That is pretty much the highest rating I can give.
To be fair, it wasn’t without flaws of course. Especially the tutorial was partly hard to get through. The inflation of titels, the inaccurate rarity system and fact that every imaginable magic was available to everyone was a bit to much at times. Of course it was planned and all got explained later on, but more structure at that time would have helped.
The clan building was something I haven’t read before in that form and I absolutely loved. Especially the exploration of new dungeons and planets was amazing. Same goes for the Mc. It really elevates the story to have a strong competent protagonist, that isn’t a sociopathic overpowered monster.
