Asuna Kamakura leads a life of solitude, living as a mere outcast amongst her classmates, her family broken apart beyond repair, and her otherwise ordinary life taking a turn for the worse in various ways many years ago. Just as she was lost with no sense of direction, a single, inexplicable event altered the course of her life in ways she could never imagine forever, both for good and for worse.

Finding herself in a foreign, hostile universe, Asuna is abruptly sent on an opportune, yet perilous journey. She must navigate a broken world ripe with conflict, calamity, and danger, all the while searching for whatever fragments of herself she can put back together and battling a variety of cunning and supernatural foes. But in spite of the seemingly impossible odds before her, a chain of events allow her to foster the will she possesses within to break through the walls blocking her path.
