- Adam BirchRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Top quality in terms of writing. Compelling characters you'll fall in love with. Many of the tropes we love. I have a few quibbles here and there but none really worth mentioning. Overall I would love to see this story get more attention. Honestly it's just good cultivation fun! Give it a go!
- The2ndnightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is really good!!
A premise I really haven't seen elsewhere. A girl from earth gets rescued by a dragon and taken to the dragon's world to be trained so she can save his world for him.
Generally you expect her to be either a bleeding heart or turn full murder hobo, but Liu jie manages to strike a fine balance between them. The book has loveable side characters and a good sense of progression as well. Can't wait to read more of this - Marc'dU4deathRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'm surprised that this novel isn't better know. its better than quite a few stories i've seen on rising stars.
honestly the one glaring hole i've seen is her master. He has to stop cultivating to eat, how hard would it be for her to leave a note, and while eating he telepathically responds to it. [maybe she wouldn't realize it herself but it seems like something pretty basic for him to tell her.]
I realize it would end up solving too many problems if he just answered everything, but its been a giant logic size hole.
Yes struggle to progress and all that, but to give her no way to contact him if she came across a hopeless situation, knowledge about a god healer/alch, or basic cultivation knowledge [seriously no books/guides on how cultivation generally works for her to read.] - Michele123@Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5This might not be the most impartial review ever, but it's hard for me to be objective when the story simply touches on all the aspects I enjoy reading. Our protagonist is adorable; I've liked her from the beginning. I've read very few Xianxia novels to date because, while I love the idea of cultivating and the journey to the realm of the gods and immortality, I rarely connect with the protagonists, who usually tend to want to become strong just for the sake of it. In this case, between the mission Liu has made her own and her condition before her "rebirth," I can easily empathize with her choices. I also really appreciated the cast of supporting characters, despite the time our protagonist dedicates to self-improvement. The fact that Liu is more powerful than her peers, at least given the reason she was chosen and the fact that her body was rebuilt by two deities, makes sense, and it's a guilty pleasure to watch her humiliate people while having to watch out for bigger fish than her. I love characters with immense potential, but not necessarily out of scale like her. I can't wait for the third book, which is why I hate starting stories in hiatus/inactive; I really struggle to wait. My only criticism: Liu is perhaps too intelligent for a child; she has the maturity of a teenager while being only 9 years old or something. If at first she seems "just" a prodigy, after a while, it starts to feel like a bit of a stretch. That said, I realize it's extremely difficult to write from a child's perspective, and I'd much rather have a protagonist like that than an idiot. Author, please don't abandon this series before its worthy conclusion, it would be a real shame. I think this books deserves much more love than they’ve received so far.
