- AJP1914Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first few chapters is a whirlwind but the base building is really interesting and how he is piecing together the story. Darius starts off a bit tough to love but Darius doesn’t even seem to love Darius so it’s a fair opinion. I am really curious to see where this story goes and I am looking forward to reading the next chapter. Darius powers are really interesting and I’ve been having fun imagining what they will become
- DavidLingardAuthorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is just the kind of story I like - the MC is dropped straight into the system and has to figure his way around it. It's a pretty standard system - which I like and the MC starts off as a little brash and unlikable, though i'd say that's to foreshadow some of the terrible things he's going to have to do in the book.
The beginning is a bit of a clanger - it drops some past memories on you and races through them, which is a good thing becasue as always, we want to get into the action! It also sets up the character nicely in terms of his place in life, his temperament and his... uh... desire to drink the remnants in the bottom of last night's bottles!
I like the Warrior/Mage class that is being presented here too. Choosing to be able to summon spiked gauntlets as a pro fighter? good choice! I'm hoping to see some more of the same, with some smart choices in arms and armour.
Also Kobolds? yes please. I really like the use of the standard monsters in the genre, as I feel that it makes visualising them so much easier!
Spelling and grammar is pretty much perfect throughout as far as I can see, which makes readability very good, and the pacing and chapter lengths are right on point.
All in all this is a really good stroy that I'll be keeping up with!
