Come one, come all to the grand reveal of MavraCorp’s Greatest Golem to date!
Introducing; The Perfect Boyfriend System (Perfect Girlfriend System to be released shortly)
For only 6 easy payments of 99$ you can get a brand spanking new lover, with none of the awkward stuff!
He cooks, he cleans! (For legal reasons we must note that the Perfect Boyfriend Golem must be taught to clean and cook, and does not come with instinctive janitorial/culinary ability.) He doesn’t leave you for that ugly whale,Susan! …ahem.
Powered by only the most cutting edge of golem runology, your Boyfriend will evolve and learn as he lives. Under your (hopefully) caring hand he will grow to something extraordinary! Who knows, maybe with your help he’ll even become sentient… nah.
MavraCorp is not responsible for any deaths, injuries, or general destruction caused by Perfect Boyfriends.
[For an additional payment of 50$ you can get the Memory Wand, perfect for recreating that one celebrity, or a sexy highschool crush you recently rediscovered on Binstafram]
(I’ll change the cover art when I get a chance but I had this one from a while ago so why not. Also fair warning… I SUCK at consistent updates sooooo… good luck?)
(Also!!! No one told me that dark mode got rid of opacity changes, so until I figure out a solution this story is best read in light mode :) sorry for the blindness)

- OsiriumWritesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Weird, fun and unique!
Summary: Give it a read! It’s surprisingly sweet and strange at the same time.
Style: Really good. The way the RPG element was woven through the story is actually great. It didn’t feel forced or thrown at the reader in one massive info dump. It was tactful and organic, slowly easing the reader into it. Sadly, the book isn’t yet finished, so I can’t speak of future chapters.
Story: Solid. The only critique I had was that some chapters felt a bit similar in style (Character A goes through Growth A while Character B goes through B). Nothing bad, simply a wish on my end to learn more about the story, explore the world and other characters.
Grammar: Not bad. There are a few flaws here and there, but nothing that a second ‘read’ or an editor couldn’t fix. It never distracted me from the story or ruined my immersion.
Character: This is where the story shines. The characters feel ‘real’. There is a lot of depth to them and the complexities of their relationships, forged/ordered or not. Both Li and Jayce are a treat to discover. Both are incredibly flawed, complex and strong in their own way. I enjoyed the opposite nature of the two of them. - SpattykinsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overload follows a man named Li who is still trudging through grief at the loss of his life-long star-crossed boyfriend, Jayce. It is unclear the circumstances under which he passed but that seems to be part of the story to be told. Or perhaps it doesn't matter what the particulars are.
The story is a bit of an odd-ball for the litrpg genre. But honestly, that's why it's one of the few entries in the genre I can genuinely say I enjoyed. There is no isekai power fantasy here. In fact, if the author had a mind to, they could write out the litrpg elements entirely and the best parts of the story would be perfectly intact. My one big criticism might be organization. It sometimes feels like chapters aren't laid out in a way that gives the reader the information they need now. Not that chapters need to be re-written, more that they might benefit from a little shuffle.
This story is very steam-of-consciousness and non-linear. In fact, the actual current events covered up to this point have only spanned an evening. If anything, the story is beginning to feel like an extended eulogy for the lost Jayce. It's very engaging when you put your mind to meeting the story where it is (a-la Catch-22, House of Leaves etc.) If anything the constant jumping around stirs in the reader the sense of chaos that always comes with grief.
Characterization and emotional writing is definitely a strong suit of the author. Even without knowing much about Li and Jayce, the early tender moments between them are still captivating and draw you in. Genuinely, the relationship moments are my favorite part. - RandomVanGloboiiRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story is about a computer system designed to generate the perfect boyfriend. It's quite an attractive, interesting idea that has strong roots in many modern themes, a sort of Black Mirror episode with a touch of anime.
Often, the story shows error messages the way a computer would show them (in the limits of RoyalRoad's text editor's capacities), so you get red text for error and actual tables for stats. While it may llmit the possibility of showing the story in other platforms, I plaud the idea.
Only thing I wished is longer paragraphs, almost all of them end in one line.
In short, a clever and original idea, keep up the good work!
