One day when Robin was in his high school math class, the world started to change. One moment there was a massive thunder strike splitting the sky open and the next the school was being attacked by goblins.
When Robin leveled up and got strong and bulky, he didn’t want to be a hero or a villain. He wanted to get strong enough to get rid of anyone who stood in his path and smash their skulls open.

- Ellen TaylorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5...without the apocolypse happening. But at least Robin is prepared. Sorta.
This is a great addition to the LitRPG genre, and it checks all the boxes. Adds to all the stats? Brings the game? Either way, it fits in this genre nice and snug.
The grammar was great. I only saw one or two mistakes, and there was nothing that broke my immersion of the story.
The style was also well done. The transitions, though, felt more like a screenplay. They're not weaved into the story, they're just stated outright that an hour has passed, which works for some people, but it's not my favorite.
The story was great. Honestly, the system was well thought out, and I could tell a lot of time had been poured into the set up and the stats. The apocolyptic aspect of it was facinating. I always thought the end of the world would happen while in a math class, so it just made sense to me. :)
The characters, though, were the thing I wish were fleshed out a little more. Robin was the most fleshed out, since it was though his POV, but everyone else, I had a hard time thinking of something about their character other than they were terrified. Teacher characters included. Granted, I was getting to the point where some of the side characters were starting to be more prominent, but it did take a while for that to happen.
Overall, this is a classic LitRPG story, and it works well. - AbbyBabbleRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The main character levels quickly in the first 8 chapters, but it's acknowledged in the story and it feels organic rather than forced. There's good exploration of character rather than a rushed intro to a fantasy world. We're on Earth, but Earth is undergoing some kind of rapid change into a game world. The MC experiences this change alongside his classmates, including his best friend, a popular kid nemesis, and the girl he likes. So that's fun.
This writer has good storytelling instincts. We're introduced to main characters, the main situation, the basic premise, and the world, all within the first 10k words or so, and it's done with good pacing and some elegance.
The weakness here, IMO, is grammar/punctuation. Missing commas and switches between past and present tense are hard for my brain to handle. That may not bother everyone. I am strict with grammar and any misuse is enough to throw me out of a story.
The structure and bones of this story are solid. I am all for a nerdy 16 yo gaining super-strength, slaying some monsters, all while his buddies assume he's the same kid, and while his stats say Wisdom: 0. Will he ever level up in intelligence? One has to wonder! There are so many questions that make for a great story hook.
