Description
Her brother wants her to be free.
Her sister wants her to kill a god.
The rest of the country wants her dead.
Bel just wants to know who she is and where she came from, but the truth lies far beyond her imagination. Bel was created with a purpose—but she is far too weak to achieve it. She will need to grow stronger, and quickly, because if she can’t find the courage to challenge a god then she will lose everything and everyone that she loves.
Outside Influencesis a progression fantasy story featuring: a weak to god-defyingly strong gorgon protagonist; people and creatures inspired by a wide variety of games, mythology, and archaeology; game-like mechanics, with an in-world system of levels and abilities, but without any blue-boxes or game elements that break the setting.

- MRcastillaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am at Chapter 20, and I can safely say that I am enjoying this story! It has the elements of progression with lots of nerdy detail to keep the reader involved. In addition, to witty banter between the very interesting characters that range from an outworlder, a gorgon, and an assassin with powers from the god of vengeance!
What the writer does so well is providing diverse perspectives that really help with carrying the story forward. The main character is learning their innate powers, and through her eyes we can see how one can master the abilities that exist in this world. There is also a character that is an outworlder who is brand new to the world. So through their eyes we can be immersed with the world's histories, and cultures.
If you like progression fantasy, action, adventure, and witty banter, than this is the story for you! Now I will return to reading it! - zujuwanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A deeply interesting story thus far, with a world similar to Enderal in a few ways.
Bearheart has created a fascinating world with a slow burn reveal while keeping a sympathetic traveller from our world as a secondary character, giving the reader a good way to understand this world from our perspective while not overwhelming the story with overused portal fantasy tropes.
The primary character has a destiny, but doesn’t have an obvious path, and is doing her own best to understand the world as well. Capable, but not overconfident, and has a determination that makes a good protagonist.
The litrpg features are held tightly and revealed via taught wisdom within the world rather than hitting the character over the head with passive aggressive system messages.
Some paragraph structuring could be improved, but nothing critical is grammatically wrong.
Bearheart clearly understands what they are building and I am enjoying the read. This story is analogous in flavour to Enderal vs the Skyrim of many other stories on Royal Road, I encourage others to read this as well.
Frankly I'm surprised that I may be the first reviewer, this story has had a substantial amount of effort put into it with little encouragement from readers. Bearheart should be commended for their perseverance in writing this. - cheick55Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story is creative and well paced for the most part. The characters are all well rounded and fleshed out. Especially the main character Bel. She is essentially a gorgon(Medusa). From childhood she was basically experimented on for most of her life until she is freed. Her journey and connections with the gods provide a very engaging history and world building experience . I recommend it
