Iris Orion is a naive young woman who has always dreamed of becoming an adventurer. With an imagination fueled by the storybooks of her youth and the tall tales told by her mother, Iris passes the days of her monotonous life with fantasies of the great world beyond her village. When the day finally comes -- when she finally finds the magic she always hoped to -- she's soon sucked away to the far reaches of her world, to the very frontier of the empire's exploration.

As a level 1 adventurer in a strange and dangerous land, armed with only a teleport power and a bottomless bag that leads to the void behind reality, Iris must lean on the help of her newfound friends and fight giant monsters and evil wizards, and to level up as quickly as she can if she hopes to survive.

What to expect:- Stats shown, but are used sparingly- MC does not min/max, and is not an experienced adventurer or gamer- Not a true isekai, but MC is teleported to the far side of her planet to an unexplored continent- Interpersonal dynamics between party members, occasional very short POV changes

    (My First Review.)
This story is really great! It has an amazing plot, interesting characters, and paints a vivid picture in your mind. The author did an awesome job telling the story, and despite only having a few chapters out, it's honestly already one of my favorites on Royal Road.
    Style
The author did a great job showing rather telling us that Iris is super excited and happy about everything happening in the story. It feels like you're right there with her, experiencing all the fun along the way.
    Story
This story is really cool because it does things differently,  especially with how characters get their powers
    (Absorbing A Thread of Power)
and the unconventionality of their display system
(no blue boxes, adventurers use an adventurer journal to display their stats)
. The plot is  super interesting because it drops hints about mysteries,
like Iris’s parents (Iris’s mother was (is?) an adventurer and left Iris her journal and with every level up Iris experiences, she unlocks more of the entries in the journal. Personally, I believe that her mother isn’t dead. There has been no mention of her dad thus far, so waiting patiently for that.) and this mysterious familiar (which I believe to be the bag, in the sense that it’s a mythical, mystical, and mysterious creature from another plane.)
. It keeps you wanting to know more! I love it!
    Grammar
There are a few mistakes in the story (mostly just words that shouldn’t be there), but they're not a big deal because they don't ruin the experience of getting into the story. So, it's all good!
    Characters
The characters are honestly the best, especially Iris, who I really like (but maybe I'm just a bit biased because I feel like I would react a lot like her if I got powers). They all feel like real people with their own personalities, and you can see how they interact with each other, like Vic and Eli's friendship. You can genuinely tell that they’ve known each other for a while.
    Overall
READ! READ! READ! (Important things mus

look maybe im just ignorant and easily impressed but this is genuinely one of my favorite things I've ever read. im not exagerating to be nice i swear
there is a real sense of adventure and wonder that is present. its so easy to fall into the environment and characters because the writing just lets you. its descriptive but not so much that you lose the energy of the story and its progression. i'm genuinely in love with some of the environments (not getting specific bcs spoilers i guess?) and how the characters can spend so much time traveling in one place yet still present the readers with a diverse range of imagery that doesnt make us sick of it.
The characters are really great too. its not like theyre the deepest most complex characters in the world, but thats whats great because they don't need to be-- this isn't the deepest most complex story in the world. the characters and their relationships are lighthearted and so is their interactions. the diologue is natural and all the comedic moments hit the way they need to, rarely does an interaction come off as awkward or forced. also Iris' thought process, reactions and development of skills all feel extremely natural and its crazy to me how so many things i usually find myself nitpicking in my brain are nailed down in this story.
and the action scenes are great! I've commented this before but theres a really strong sense of momentum and energy to the action, especially the fighting scenes. Also the way Iris' powers are described is very compelling and I love how they are explored. watching her progress to understand the extent of her powers and how she can utilize it has been exciting to follow and very natural. really everything just falls in place.
i think i just really appreciate finding this story because its basically everything i've been looking for in a story right now and i'm really grateful for that. i haven't even finished catching up to the current chapter lol i just wanted to write this all out while it

    What's not to like!
    Witch Hat - Check!
Fun an Whitty Cast - Check!
    Cool Magic System - Check!
    Not OP MC - Check!
I'm really enjoying everything about this story. It's got nice combat, nice interpersonal relationships, fun magic, and I feel like I'm not reading some wish-fulfillment garbage.
Pacing is great, I don't feel like I'm getting rushed to a point, or some specific event, everything feels authentic and fresh.
Why are you reading my review, go start reading Orion's Ballad! GOOOOO!

Iris has been an interesting character so far, she's a bit over-eager and maybe slightly naive but that only adds to her charm. I hope we continue to see her interacting with other adventurers in future chapters as it really lets her personality shine through.    I'm not the best at summarizing my thoughts so I'll just say that I really hope the author continues with this :)

I like this so far, the team is fun and some of the magic is interesting and a different variety than the usual fantasy archetypes. The worldbuilding also looks interesting and both the competition and the emerging mystery seem worth the read.
I would recommend to anyone looking for a light entertaing fantasy.

Iris is a delightful character to follow. She’s definitely a bit naive about being an adventurer, but it only adds to her character and we quickly learn that she has more than enough of a backbone to stick to the job. The leveling is slow which makes each and every level up feel important.
The supporting characters are also wonderful, and all of them feel distinct in their own ways. We slowly learn about the rest of the world along with Iris, and it’s shaping up to be an amazing story.
My only complaint is that I can’t read new chapters more often.
This was my first review, and I probably failed to fully get out why I love this story so much, by just know that this is one of the best fantasy series I have read on RR.

I love the characters in this, how they interact and their powers. There is some nice background intrigue and character drama.
The magic system is a nice blend of familiar with some interesting new bits. Teleporters are so cool.
Would definitely recommend! One of the best newer books on the site.

I honestly can't remember which RR author recommended this story but I thank them! You really don't want to miss this one. It's not really Isekai since the MC doesn't die or travel to a different planet but she does get new power in system that's new to me, one where there are traditional wizards, witches, and other schools of magic and also those who encounter Threads of Power and have magic bestowed upon them. And once Iris, MC, has magic, a lifelong (18yr-her actual age) she jumps in with both feet which has her in a completely different location a day later and she's off and running. Half cocked, clueless, and eager. Fortunately for her, she is rescued by an adventuring group off on an adventure and they let her join up. Adventures ensue.
The world is an interesting blend of power expanding empire, ancient orders with a completely different agenda and don't care about the empire, other countries who also don't care, and tons of differing cultures.
There's enough going on to keep your interest and the author doesn't lose sight of the sub plots, yay, so on with action, there's slices of life, reflective moments, and not flashbacks, but moments when the members of the adventuring group reveal things about their past. It adds up to one hell of a story!
    Enjoy

This is a really fun story the enjoyable characters. As the author warns, it takes 11 chapters to get going. But it provides a good foundation for the rest of the tale.
Note: the remainder is just fluff because or the stupid 50 wit minimum. They need to change it to 30. This is why I just rate by stars without a review.
