Description

"Oh devs who art in the issue queue. Hallowed be thy code. Thy commits merge without conflict. Thy will be done in production as it is on local. I'm sure you guys are busy and all, but I can't log out."As a programmer, Ike knows all about Virtual Dive Experiences (VDX), but when he suddenly wakes up in a virtual game he's never heard of, he’s too busy struggling to survive to worry about how he got there. Luckily, he's got a trick up his sleeve: The ability to program custom enchantments for his gear. He’ll need that and more to figure out what’s going on, since there’s no tutorial and True Calling plays by its own rules: Your class and race are chosen for you, the NPCs are indistinguishable from the players, every quest is unique, and the GMs keep leaving Ike’s prayers unanswered.

It is weird to me how such a well written story has no rewievs yet.
This story is obviously not completely innovative, but it delivers a very interesting take on VR Litrpg and "I can't log out".
From my experience reading these, good worldbuilding means designing the VR RPG in a way that the reader wishes they would be able to play it themselves. This is certainly the case here. No spoilers though.
I have not noticed any grammar errors.
What surprised me the most picking up this story blindly was how well exposition was handled. I have not once had to gloss over an info dump chapter, but I still have a very vivid image of the world and how it works, well done.
The characters are varied, believable and at least from a game mechanics POV unique and interesting.
This review is at chapter 24 so I cannot go too deep into character development from a narrative view but I haven't read about any characters that felt uninteresting.
From what I can tell this story is made with love.
It has a witty humor and I am very much looking forward to reading more of it!
We all should really take more time losing some nice words about stories we like in here though seriously, I almost did not pick this up.

Although the story's premise isn't original (since Sword Art Online anime popularized the stuck-in-a-game concept), the author does a fine job in execution.  The pacing is excellent, and the writer spends plenty of time fleshing out the game system and main character.  My biggest pet peeve is probably the movie references (because some readers weren't born when Matrix I movie came out), and using Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For a Hero" song lyrics (even phrases) could land the writer in hot water with copyright infringement.

If you ever wanted to combine the initial intrigue of .hack//SIGN, the setting of skyrim, a healthy dose of coding knowledge, and the writing style of Jim Butcher into a single story, then you've found it in Original Enchantment.
The story is well written and easy to follow with a writing style that mixes equal parts humor and crunch, letting exposition grow organically as the main character encounters new things in the world. No need to sift through the tutorial or user manual here, the reader gets to discover the world of True Calling right along with Ike.
This is definitely a read that's easy to binge and has you wanting the sequel sooner rather than later while still being satisfying on its own. If you're even tangentially an isekai fan, a gamer, or enjoy fantasy worlds, I highly recommend giving Original Enchantment a shot.

Full disclosure: I received a free copy of the book for doing a review but am still going to buy my own
Original Enchantment is a fun isekai litrpg book with an interesting mystery surrounding it without falling into all of the typical isekai troupes. It has your protagonist in another world, who has a unique skill that makes them different and helps them fight an evil, adversarial force. It does this without having the character be greatly overpowered or the roll your eyes amount of harem that can happen in those types of stories.
What I like about the story was how the Thad kept the story on the level of the main character. There were no god-tier creatures or creatures that made it unbelievable that the main protagonist could not handle. I also appreciated that instead of a harem of lovers the character surrounds themselves with a group of friends. Another aspect of this story is the fact that not every person is a fighting class, but the author finds a good way for them to have an impact on the story. The unique use of the main characters magic abilities also kept me interest and turning the page.
What could use improvement is the characters, while good, seemed very close to one dimensional. When meeting a character, I could place them into a type and knew what they were going to do. One example is a player antagonist whom I knew from meeting them that they were going to cause problems later down the line in the story. I feel though Thad can resolve this issue by having the characters in further books act differently than how they appear would inform you.
Overall Original Enchantment is a simple but fun litrpg experience that brings you in with the programing themed magic mechanics but make you stay with the low key story and the underlying arch mystery.

I really loved the novel ! I was really hooked until ... the 3rd volume. Needless to say that I don't understand and I am very disappointed :(
However, the first 2 volumes are excellent and I recommand them.
