Obsidian Fire

Everything was fine for Bentham, until the Gushari came. They had alien magics: explosive rocks, beams of light that burned everything they touched, and huge flying hunks of metal, raining destruction on everything Bentham holds dear. When the Gushari came, the Empire rose. Within weeks, the Empire drafted billions, including Bentham, to fight humanity's war for survival. The enemy may have magic, but so does the Empire: swords that could split the ocean with the flick of hand, mages who could call the wrath of the elements, and so much more.
