Not All That Glitters

One day at the dawn of a new year, tens of thousands of people everywhere gain access to magic. People call them superheroes, supervillains, and the like, and they see visions of a past that will never be, one corrupted by magic and turned into something not quite Earth. They gain power from these visions and use them to protect or harm the people. But, some are not fit for immense strength.

Some people like:

Sonia Wilson: A high schooler whose power wants her to kill, and she isn't disinclined to the idea.

Amelia Suzuki: A constantly drunk, lonely woman who once tried to be good but got her heart broken in the process.

Ruby & Emerald Esperanza: A pair of 3rd-grade identical twins who have have more than a few screws loose.

The world will unwillingly learn that not all that glitters is gold.
