This fanfiction follows a team of four young boys. Like team RWBY they are first years and are an elite squad. What they do coincides along with team RWBY adventures. They are: Team NOIS (Pronounced Team Noise). Here we meet old and new friends as we see the world of Remnant through their eyes.

When I saw this show up on the forums, I was excited. I'm a big RWBY fan, and having slogged through some really nasty original creations on this site, I was eager to see just what could be offered to me in terms of fan fiction. I added it to my "Read Later" list and promptly forgot about it.
Today, I dug back through my list and decided to have a look at it. Unfortunately, what I found wasn't quite worth my excitement.
NOIS is the story of the titular team of Huntsmen-in-training, and follows them through their schooling at Beacon alongside the cast of the official series. I'm not going to beat around the bush here: these OCs reek of typical OC problems. All four are extremely strong and talented, and some have special relationships with team RWBY. The actual character designs themselves aren't bad, and some of the weapons are pretty cool (Noir's, in particular). However, a lot of it is still problematic. Ivan and Sebastian don't follow the color-name rule, and Sebastian's semblance in particular is potentially too broken. All of these characters are pretty upbeat and friendly, as opposed to the slightly-more diverse personalities seen in teams on the show. Since the author is as far into the story as they are, it would be difficult to make major changes to these guys, but I'd still recommend checking out the OC creation threads on rwbyforums. There's lots of great advice there for beginners.
The plot does what many RWBY fics does- it follows the plot of Volume 1 to a tee. While it makes sense that any students admitted into Beacon at the same time as team RWBY would experience the same events... it really feels same-y. Everything that happens to team RWBY happens to NOIS, and sometimes the NOIS guys are actually involved. And even when NOIS is on their own, the same kind of things happen to them. There is a little hint at what seems like a NOIS-centric subplot coming up, but we haven't seen any payout from that yet. Maybe it's just my personal preference when it
