- zackery11913Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I always love a good AI space ship based story throw in some romance and it's perfect, (I wouldn't mind some human crew members though ) could use some friendly aliens and more cool tech, Ship Girl YAY ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
- Geoff KenyonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Still in the early stages, but so far so good. I'm quite enjoying this one.
It is well written, with an excellent premise. Also, interesting characters with some quirks and a little bit of growth, with the promise more to come.
The cards are interesting, I'm assuming that in the future they will serve to give the readers some input into the story progression. - Homeless_OneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Raven's Dagger releases another great story, with a healthy chunk of chapters. It's slower paced than you would expect, and the story of what happened in the past is slowly revealed with recovered logs and conversation with older AI's. The threat is still very much active and currently they are massively out gunned, so stealth is the name of the game. V much looking forward to more chapters
- Marshall75Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0A little less light and humorous than some of Ravens Dagger other works, but still a fascinating read. I don’t generally like nonhuman protagonists as they can be hard to relate to ultimately, but I really liked Day and Night and Mother as AIs and I especially liked the looming and dark mood and sad tone of the story. It’s creepy and sad is another way to put it.
- SwitzerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As stated in the title of this review, do you need anything else?
In all seriousness, Raven has started a new fun adventure with cute girls (AI) and spaceships. While the "in space" framing of the story is slightly out of his wheelhouse, it's still pure Ravensdagger. Good times, good vibes with seriousness used as a spice. - TaliesinSkyeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Consistantly fun characterization, and I'm eager to see what's going on in the wider universe and how the AI girls will fare in their difficult situation. Humanity's last children finding meaning in humanity's ashes is a challenging topic to write about, but there are glimmers of hope to be found and I hope in turn that they see their daybreak over Ceres.
- TheNormanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The AI are written so well that I can practically feel their emotions from all the ones that were around since before the Accord showed up. The anger, rage, pain and sadness from losing their humans has been done really well.
I don't think they should really be called AI though, they are far more than just AI, maybe ADH (Artificial Digital Humans) would work. - ThubansheeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0(Posting at ch 52) I've been reading this on Spacebattles so far and it's really fun and a very interesting premise. Great worldbuilding. Humanity has been wiped out by aliens that periodically come back. MCs are all AI that try to survive while building up to the goal of eventually avenging humanity.
The characters are interesting, the story isn't going super deep into them but that might still come. Some of them are very young, some have longer back stories, and they all have distinct personalities.
It's a bit slice of life-y yet at the same time things are moving along. There's a strong sense of the unexplored mystery and vastness of space, which I really love.
Minor grammar errors. The story is carried by its dialogue, but RavensDagger is notoriously good at that and it works out well.
On Spacebattles, Noblebright is set up as a quest, meaning the readers get to vote and comment what's happening next and there are light game mechanics involved with building up "stress" and event cards and material points etc. I think it's absolutely possible to read it as a traditional web serial without all those elements, but you might be missing out on some of the context and the great and involved discussions that are happening over there. I hope some of that will also start happening here on RR in the comment section.
I loved the author's other works and this one is similarly great. I'm very excited to see where it's going. - okka676767Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story seems very fresh yet definitely inspired by the sci-Fi stories of the 90's and 00's and beyond. It reminds me in part of the agent cormac series and the polity, however the style is far removed from Neal Asher’s.
The story moves pretty fast at times which I appreciate and they don’t dwell on useless filler content. I don’t think there’s one chapter so far that feels redundant, which allows you to be further invested in the story. In addition to this, the card system in the author notes is a nice addition to keep you updated on maybe-forgotten elements. It definitely functions more as an abstraction of the story rather than the story being based off the cards. They also contain some funny content occasionally which complements the characters.
Grammar is fine, I don't really know how to review it except for to say it adequately conveys the situation and spelling mistakes are infrequent.
I think characters is one of this books strong points, large sections of chapters are devoted to dialogue which is aptly situational, conveying observations and events without sounding "explainy". You don't really get the feeing that the communication is happening just for the sake of the reader or just to point things out like in some other books. They also have unique and vibrant personality’s that are mirrored by their ships. The author isn’t afraid to delve into the deeper ethical issues such as self-image and manages to do so while providing valuable information and development.
overall 5/5 and I think we need more sci-Fi on RR - Brightest voidRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm always surprised by how good Raven is at making stories feel warm and hopeful when many others would write a grimdark story when presented with a world where pretty much all of humanity has been wiped out in a genocide and the characters of the story has to deal with the evepresent risk of being discovered and destroyed.
It's pretty well written (I don't really care much about grammar as long as the writing itself is not jarring) the characters are portrayed cleanly. The character depths are more implied than explored. If you like trigger happy MCs there's a Hance that you might not like it as Day prefers moral highroad. Not peaceful by any means just preferring that path.
The story itself is pretty good though if you are expecting one where the characters make choices that are purely rational ignoring any emotional/moral aspects just because they're AI then this probably isn't the story for you.
