Description

Everyone at some point dreams of being a hero. Dreams of having unlimited power and saving the world. But power isn't everything it's made out to be.

Shade was once the most feared man on the continent, nicknamed the 'Black Devil',  a walking calamity. From burning down entire villages overnight, to blowing up barracks with one attack, his atrocities made him the most wanted criminal in the world. But it wasn't supposed to be like this; he had wanted to be the hero. Being a Lucifer dragon, he was born with overwhelming power, and he planned to use that power to drain the world of the 'evil' that plagued it. So where did it all go wrong?

He spends his days now pondering that very thing, pretending to be a human, going bar to bar and town to town, drinking his eyeballs out, trying to drown the memories of his past away. It's been 10 years of this with no end in sight. At some point, a Fairy merchant claimed to have killed him, and when Shade didn't return, everyone believed him. They even made the man a king and dubbed the day a continent-wide holiday.

But Shade didn't care. The world wanted him dead, and he couldn't blame them. If people felt happier, safer with him dead and gone, then he'd play the part. But now that very same king has the continent on the verge of war. Dragons are being enslaved and slaughtered like cattle, and even the gods are caught up in their own turmoil.

Shade, though, was blissfully unaware of all this, and was planning to spend the next decade like the previous, in a constant state of intoxication. That was until one night, while in a random town in the middle of nowhere, after all the bars were closed, he sensed someone with overwhelming power. Curiosity getting the better of him, he went to find who this person was. Little did he know that simple curiosity would land him in the crosshairs of fate itself, sending him down a path to change the world, and forcing him to face the skeletons he's been trying to drink away.

Depressing story actually this story tells you that there can be downside to being overpowered. This story tells you that you can't solve every problem just by brute force and violence. Anlike other overpowered mc story there no Aura farming and nothing like that Just mc with major mental issues. I would recommend this as a good read.

Amazing story and world building so far.
Gotta loaf the smell of bread and humor too. Its a jam of serious themes morbid humor and sweet lighthearted moments too.
A major downside is that there currently no more chapters to read at chapter 38. :)
Didn't expect to get attached to the story and characters so fast. Its got a nice pace and real-feel characters with actual flaws and moments of cluelessness or personal blindspots. Which are used well against eachother to create a want for more backstory and fine details.
