- yusuffRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The way this was done and the direction you took is just too good, I loved the powers of most supers, especially Cnidarian, that power is wild, I was genuinely impressed with the powers and power caps. The character descriptions were detailed, Toye the air headed narcissist, Obong the female stooge, Ava the fun person, Alewo the geek and Chachi the kindhearted but impulsive boy with a heart of gold, keep this going Patrick, this was good.
- Just OlubodunRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's not often one reads a story set in Nigeria & it is even rarer to read a sci-fi set in Nigeria but to seamlessly mesh the two with a psychological thriller is truly amazing.
at first, the story seemed derivative but it improved as one goes along!! it is refreshing to read about being a superhero from the layman's perspective & to see that no one is one-dimensional!! not all the good guys are heroic & not all the bad guys are scum!! There are underlying reasons & the reasons are reasonable and Chetachi is caught between them. No one is as they first present themselves
it is also wonderful to see people dealing with a special needs sibling who is not glossed over or a Mary Sue and to see the toll it takes on the caregivers!
the world building is exquisite & reminds me of Tolkien at his briefest
overall it is a refreshing read & I look forward to more chapters and expansion on the themes and characters!! - SaicedelicRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ser Pent is brilliant. His world building and storytelling are really evocative. He infuses his characters with personality and motivations I can understand and identify with.
I can see in the protagonist the joy, hope and amazement that comes with the discovery of abilities and appreciate how he weaves in the challenges that this creates.
I'm looking forward to the next entries in this series, and any other with this author creates - Senju_KawaramaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I want to clarify that I got an advanced copy of the full book one.
The author did well with the characterizations of Nigerians. I mean, who else understands us, if not another one? The dialogue was pin point accurate. I saw a lot of things that I could relate with, and I also saw so much that appealed to my personality.
You achieved a lot with your writing that it would be criminal if you got anything less than a 4.5 star for your troubles. Grammar is top notch though I spotted a few grammatical errors.
The story was immersive, compelling, and it kept me on the edge of my seat all through. Glad you decided to continue telling the story. Keep up the good work. - Thor OdinsonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0For a new author I am quite surprised how mature some of the writing is!
I like the fact that he has not sacrificed character growth for pure action and vice versa.
Very good for a debut novel.
I am hoping the following chapters keep this balance.
kudos
Thor - drdarknightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Once again brillant.
the protagonist is flawed, imperfect and everything that makes us human in a society that seemed to have lost its way and most of its morality. The beginning like I had told the writer earlier was a bit shaky especially with the world building around his new found powers but the build up with the rapidly escalating odds is nothing short of a masterpiece - sirenensangRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0i don't often get to see african superhero stories or even just african superheroes, which makes this story a welcome sight.
Rock-solid action writing and interesting powers seal the deal. Though the characters are not my favorites right now, the 10th chapter introduces an amazing one i hope to see more of. Also, the characters i did get to know closer are deeper than they seem at first sight.
i'm excited to read more from this story, and i definitely recommend this first arc. - CzernoborgRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There was just too much that I couldn't stop... Your work, your style, your characters are all relatable and fun, from Toye the blonde bully, to Obong the silent @#$#, like I said it is always the silent ones, Ava the rebel with a heart of maybe gold(jury is still out on that) and Chachi, the well meaning but impulsive boy who got thrust into all this prematurely and needs to step up before people get hurt, Pro-now the mysterious, Kabash the caring, Dia Mater the loving and Ardent the hardass, this is sincerely a fun read as I'm almost reminded of Worm
- DagronzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0...Hero stories are new for me. Well, aside from tv and movies that is. I have never been able to get into comic books. I care more about the words than the drawing, my imgination being greater than anything I have ever seen drawn on paper. That being said, this story has given me a new avenue to experience super hero stories.
The world the author creates is vivid, both sureal and real. Some of that might be seeing a story from the view point of another culture, but that is even more reason to read this. Sure, a few refernces go over my head, and the names are a little awkward to me, being North American, but that just adds to the charm of the story. It makes it more real, a living organism that has evolved on its own. Which is great, since I have been hemmed in by my own culture for too long. I think that is is true of everyone, from any culture. Enough of that.
The characters are believable, not SUPER in their everyday persona's. Not all shining truth and justice, but doubts are dark thoughts. Protect your own first, then help others if you can. This is a much more realistic take.
Nobody is perfect, not even superheroes.
Nice pacing throughout, plenty of upsiwngs and down time, keeping things interesting. Give this one a try! Especially if you are not already a fan of Super Hero tales. It is woth it. - Dakke LoganRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A friend recommended and I can see why he did.
Really enjoyed the story so far, which was really fast paced and action packed ... author brings you to speed real fast by dropping you in the center of things . Vivid imagery and lovely dialogue as you are taken on an adventure to this world where it's clear that anything can happen and no one can be trusted.
I can't n't wait to see how things go .
