Description
Once upon a time, a man that flew through the skies as easily as any bird changed everything.
Decades have passed since then, yet life remains depressingly normal for most. For Timothy Lewis and Amanda Collins, there's parties, high-school, family trouble, high-school, awkward crushes, high school, and, of course, their rising careers as supervillains.
Perfectly normal stuff.

- jasonofwolvesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Loving it so far. Grammar is fine, the author has clearly put some thought into the characters so far. Written in a way that can really draw you in. Classic using tech to become super in a world of supers, at least that is how it appears so far. Nothing super original yet, but we are just getting started so who knows what is in store. Two main characters so far with other character perspectives for world building. Two kids hired as interns and implanted with an experiment because they are compatible without knowledge of said implants, one discovers it accidentally of course and the other used it but hasn't realized it. Something happens to tie them to the company, which seems to have little regard for human lives on the underside, with the face being a pharmaceutical company. Classic trope there. Still, old concepts written well so far. Worth giving it a try if anything sounds interesting. If not, give it a try anyways if you read this far. I mean, you ARE looking at advanced reviews right now and if you haven't started yet that means you are giving it a chance. So give it a try give it a read and see if you like it if you don't I hope at least you tried which is better than not trying. Havent got everything that promised yet but we only have 16 chapters so far so there's still a lot of room to find out
- HeloImDefinitelyACatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The dialouge between characters is marvelous, and Mat Haz's world building is the cream of the crop on royal road. If you liked Ave Xia Rem Y, definetly read this as well! The grammar is pratically perfect, and you can almost feel the character's emotions. The 2 MC's are great as well, with well established motivations.
Gotta get fifty words now: The story is great, you should read it. The story is great, you should read it. The story is great, you should read it. The story is great, you should read it. The story is great, you should read it. - PotassiumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is shaping up to be an extremely promising new story, with interesting and well developed characters, an properly shadowy MegaCorp and the plot seems to be suitably captivating. It is a slow-burner, so ir you want non-stop action this may not be the story for you, but otherwise, a well deserved 5 stars
- ShadedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Indeed this story is very interesting in its unique way. The way this novel was introduced and the setting of the two MC's surroundings and rules is entertaining as its entrancing. A common plot of a world filled with supers and other robotic plot pieces is so much more in this story even if this particular novel is still in its early days, the grammar in my opinion is spotlessly perfect. I also appreciate the feelings conveyed by each character could be felt with each word.
In conclusion; read this novel, you won't regret it. - TigerCannonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Stellar writing on a very fun premise. If you've read Ave Xia Rem Y you know about what to expect, but with further polished skills.
The writing style overall is great. Things flow well, lines are punchy and descriptive, scenes don't drag on or feel rushed, I don't think I've noticed a single grammar error so far, very professional. There are occasional spots where wording is weird or a sentence is clunky, but this story at its worst beats most stories at their best.
The story is still in the early stages, but the hook is quite solidly set with the in media res prologue and little hints dropped here and there about tensions and secrets, all enough that I'm eagerly anticipating delving more into them.
The characters are a little tropey, but otherwise excellent. Compared to Ave, the side characters are a good bit more nuanced, and most have already been hinted to subvert their tropes in some way or other. The main characters are also a bit... I wouldn't say one-dimensional, but maybe one-note. They are each very focused on exploring 1-2 tropes in depth at the moment, moreso than fully rounded characters. But considering that the story is only 12 chapters at this point, there are two main characters, and it actually makes things flow better since it doesn't get bogged down in lengthy introductions, I'm not holding that against the story.
Overall, the biggest complaint to be levied at the story is that there are only 12 chapters, when I want 120! Looking forward to reading more. - FitzJamesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I admit I clicked on this because if the description not the author, but when I noticed it was Mat Haz I was happy because I didn't have to be afraid the quality would drop off. The characters in this are great I am excited to see bow they grow and the world building dripped here and there is interesting. Glad I found this one!
- TapeWizardRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I really like the round table fantasy sci-fi theme with modern setting. Also its just nice seeing a good non isekai storyline we got so few of them.
As for grammar i have no room to complain. English isn't my first language not even my second its my third. So i gave it full mark
As for styles in writings i think its an outdated thing of the past. There are too many to count and its impossible to rate it accurate anyways. I i can complain about something its the flow of event's. Things happen a bit too fast. Thats all. Then again its not over yet so I can't complain about it.
Interesting storry with good characters with genuinely interesting start and room to grow. To bad it shall never be done. Every good story comes to an end but here in RR its inverse. Every good story is on HIATUS. At least its good enought to give people some good ideas. And here we are again another gem unpolished half stuck in the rough stone incomplete forever. What a shame really.
If the author ever feel like continuing this story i wery much looking forward to it
Sorry for my grammar i try. - BenkaiDebussyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5While nothing specifically stands out about the plot/characters so far, this is much better written than the vast majority of stuff on RR and I'm enjoying it a lot. It has a quality to the writing that allows me to fully "buy into the setting" and trust the author. So before the stuff I mention below, I want to be clear that I strongly recommend this.
The one minor critique I have is that the depiction of the addict guy is kinda weird (though better than in most fiction, like the god-awful stuff with the Merchants in Worm). IMO it's generally a bad idea for non-addicts to write addicts; it just requires a frame of reference that they don't have. It can sort of work if a character is using some sort of fantasy drug, but if you're going to claim that they're using some real-world substance it's possible to actually know the circumstances that surround addiction to the substance in question (an opiate addict's behavior is going to be dramatically different from a meth addict's, for example).
The thing about addicts becoming violent criminals who steal from everyone is basically just because you usually never hear about the ones who don't (and the ones who do steal usually do so from close family, rather than mugging random people). I think that, in most cases, the downward spiral begins with someone being arrested, rather than addiction just naturally making people steal. That essentially destroys other opportunities for people and forces them into social connections with other criminals. - LoDRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story is off to an amazing start. The prologue really hooks you and the main characters are compelling. The only thing i would point out is the pace can somtimes be pretty slow. One of the characters clearly has some form of Adhd and thats very well portrayed through his way of speaking and internal monologues. But this unfortunately bogs down the story's pace a little. Aside from that, can't wait to read more!
- Father GrimRoyal Road★ 0.5I love the genre of urban fantasy. I love superhero stories. I love supervillains.
The one thing absolutely do not like is false advertisement.
This story is well written, I'll give it that: Style is alright, though third person narration clashes with the authorial voice in some instances, which is jarring to read. Grammar is excellent, no complaints whatsoever. Characters are 2 dimensional archetypes, you get the annoying brainy nerd and the stuck up geek. Boring premisse for your leads, but executed well.
All that doesn't matter. Take a look at this:
"For Timothy Lewis and Amanda Collins, there's parties, high-school, family trouble, high-school, awkward crushes, high school, and, of course, their rising careers as supervillains."
There's Timothy Lewis and Amanda Collins and that's it. There are no parties, there is no high-school, no awkward crushes and especially no careers as supervillains. As of now this doesn't even qualify to be called a superhero story because while they might get mentioned, they play no role whatsoever in the story.
I have no qualms giving this story 0.5 stars because it is not the story that I was promised. It was not even the genre, the story or even the world that was advertised to me.
I'd be willing to bump my rating up a few notches if the blurb and title were changed to suit the story or vice versa.
