Description
this is a personal project I'm just writing when I can. it is in essence for my son to read one day I just don't mind people reading it. this story is inspired by Dante's Inferno, modern system fantasy, and Greek epics but in modern Appalachia
Elmore is a family man at heart just living his life in the mountains of WV. Raised a hillbilly who had aspirations but chose a happy slow life over childhood dreams. He has a son with his wife. They are as happy as the American dream can offer. He is smart and resourceful, a jack of all trades formed from a life of struggle. He has built a life that is anything but struggle.
Eventually the world comes to a crisis. Things happening that make no sense and people freaking out left and right. As a hillbilly he survives and his son is none the wiser. Even with his isolation and survival skills he is faced with a desperate world and an act of heroism brings those survivors that haven't left for the cities under his care.
When a hillbilly is given power all he can do is his best. But the world refuses to let him rest and after being the one to be attacked too many times he finally makes a change to help the world in the best way he can.
But a man's life is not forever and the modern world is not the only place or time he will defend. You must ask yourself the meaning of life when death is common and birth is just as ubiquitous. If memories fade and pain dulls, what comes of you if those memories never leave you, no matter how much atrocious events you witness. This is his destiny.

- Body horror and transformation as humans and animals mutate beyond recognition
- Community building through blood where leadership means sitting on a throne of your enemy's bones

- Nugget0423Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It was amazing the author did a great job I could imagine it was actually happening. I felt like I was actually there and could feel what the author was saying and I could feel his emotion running through my veins. It is amazing they did great describing everything to a T it was the best I’ve ever read. Great job XD
- Broken barRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0There is no number dumping from stats or any major power jumps. I like how stripped down the system is but it still feels like magic random and ordered at the same timez and not just game logic the way some system stories really use I enjoy both but it's pretty nice seeing all the skills nothing ground breaking yet but they do fit their characters, the fights get pretty detailed with the choreography. The story does seem to veer heavily into science and magic and I have no idea if the author's going to do that right but so far there has not been any potholes from it. There have been two entire wars so far. I wouldn't call Elmore and antihero or a normal hero, he does do some pretty bad things but in the moment I understand looking back I just don't know what side I'm reading at times. Having a family man protagonist is so strange he goes and does crazy stuff almost died and wakes up to a wife and child when I'm used to the struggle, not saying it's bad it's just a very difficult vibe than solo hero badass I usually read. They are still going back and fixing things nothing has really changed but it is happening actively.
