- AnsraerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Most LitRPG stories follow some very basic tropes: Step one is either a magical apocalypse or a new vr mmo game, followed by a system, arrogant young masters and lots of power leveling.
While this fiction has a setup similar to stuff we have all seen before (Disgraced pro gamer joins a new vr game) there are some key differences that make it shine. The fact that the system is NOT some sort of all powerful plot device being what first hooked me.
Characters:
So far most characters were believable. I especially liked the hired guild members who took over the local village. While they were clearly designed to be antagonists they had enough depth and believable motivations. I really appreciate how it was made clear that they were ordinary people who were just trying to make the best of their situation after signing a contract, instead of being evil just for the heck of it.
I am a bit more disappointed with the MC so far (I have seen the far-too-skilled-but-disgraced-due-to-politics-pro-gamer archetype far too often) and the guild master of the holy empire (aka arrogant yound master for plot reasons). Would be great if the author could edit them a bit to give them more depth.
Grammar:
Despite not being a native speaker myself I have quite high standards when it comes to grammar and spelling. For me 4.5 stars are really high praise. There were a handful of mistakes and typos, but I doubt anyone could do better without a dedicated team of editors.
Story:
Especially the earlier chapters were promising, the author successfully put his own spin on a popular genre.
However, in the more recent chapters combat (and training) has become more and more of a focal point. At the same time the protagonists pure combat talent (supposedly from past vr-games) has become more and more ridiculous.
Should you read this author, please reconsider. What made this story so unique was its world building, unique take on how the system was created and that it was more focused on kingdom building an - F.L. RileyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The author is spending a bit of time trying to understand the ins and outs of the System. The way it works and how he can use [Status] to his advantage.
The brief flashes of insight we get from the NPC's show they are living creatures, not mindless scripts.
Watching as the MC struggles with his anxiety disorder is interesting. Especially since he believes the people he is interacting with are NPC's. - Jester641Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Started slow but many twists to the plot. The MC is not cookie cutter and seems to be some what of an a hole. But a likable jerk. Lots of personal issues without being too crazy. Interesting exploration of the world. Really like the story so far. A little bit of polishing and will be great.
- Nomad1791Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Mc is solid and I like him, not crazy unbelievable has issues and is strong but the type of built up strength. The side character are fleshed out and not stilted, world building is done in a cell kind of way. Like you see glimpse of the world around him but the game world is more built up. My honest opinion is the chapters are too short word wise. I'd say 2-3 chapters would be the length of what if make one but that falls under personal preference. 1 star for writing so we'll 1 for an interesting story/plot 1 for a mc that is realistic with flaws and 2 for being free 5 stars yay now if you go to Amazon I'll review there too but it will be harsher because yah know I'll buy a copy to review. Hope you keep writing think this has a lot of potential.
- PhaseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the story had been progressing nicely. The main character is gaining skills and abilities but through his own effort not luck like most other novels. I also like that the main character had a backstory that plays into his personality and actions. Part of me really hopes he will tame something later on that he can ride around on but that is just my personal opinion as I don't know what the author has planned. The main character also makes rational decisions instead of just going crazy and getting a ton of loot. It really helps the story to progress and give the author more time to build his personality which is great!
The world build is slow and allows the reader to really get their head in the reading. I am excited to see more kingdom building in future chapters and hope he helps the village become more modern and defendable.
The style of writing is consistent and there isn't much on the front of other perspective which I really like. Sometimes other story's can be ruined by telling it from to many point of views. The author does a great job of only doing other perspectives when it truest benefits the story.
A great read and definitely worth your time! - Shield_Guy9991Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the story is good. The plot can be seen at first glance as pro player (MC) because of politics got betrayed ( by the guild) but the details are still not fully shown and just being foreshadowed making me (us readers) speculate on his background and his problems.
Grammar wise no distinct or glaring issues, it's smooth and captivating (depending on the reader but to me it is).
This story has a lot of potential, from crafting with magic to (hopefully) kingdom building.
And I'm loving it! Hope you guys try this if like VR and crafting. - cmlandrumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the storie is pretty interesting can't wait to see where you take it, keep up the good work.... well it looks like i have to have 50 words the only issue i see right know is some misspelled words and you said you're going back to edit them so no problem there. This should be about 50 words now.
- wyllowsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Its a great novel
I decided to write a review because I thought it was too god to have just one review. I'm not good at writing reviews, but you should try it, read past the first two chapters cause that's when the story starts developing it's unique litrpg-ness - FaceLessGlassRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story is of the highest quality. The characters are well designed and all feel different from each other. The MC is intelligant, and maybe a little op at the start, but his growth feels natural, and i find his character interesting. Also, all the backstories are thought through, and shows a care for the characters. I would say the characters always speak in straigt English, with no character 'slang'. Even still, characters from different regions and what not do act differently, which to me shows quality.
The story is progressing slowly, but I find it very satisfying. The world progess and interactions feel very natural, and there is a huge discrepancy between the known characters current power level at the start of the game, and where they might end up and a few hundred chapters (or just a really long time idk).
I will say that if you dont like slow stories, or stories where the MC has a dark backstory that effects all of his interactions within the world, this story is definatly not for you.
Overall, this story was so good that Im pretty sure I read all of the available chapters within 2 days of finding the story. Now this might say more about me than the story, but I genuently enjoyed binging the story, and dont think ill have to worry about remembering interesting plot points, as they are all extreamly impactful, and memerable. - DamnedReconRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5everything is in the title, quite good, deserves more followers, oh and apparently reviews must be 50 words long so theres that. im just gonna ramble a bit okay? i havent slept and have to DM a dnd session in about 14 hours, going to sleep would be pointless since i would just sleep through an alarm and i havent prepared anything. kill me.
