Announcement: HiatusI had initially written 4 volumes with more than 350k words (and a million words deleted in rejected chapters) over the last two years. For some reason or another, the formatting broke in the story and the spacing became randomized.I decided instead of trying to fix every single line in the 350k word story, I will just read it, retrace the plot, and rewrite the damn thing.Thank you for following Nevermore until I decided to nuke it and start over.I still have all my references saved and plot notes written down so don't worry, I will follow the original plot.-------------------------------------------------------------------Miche, a boy with few screws loose in his head, decided that it is his duty to help Luna with her quest.Luna, a woman whose age does not match her appearance, is searching for her missing family.Despite Miche's psychopathic tendencies, he diligently protects Luna as they travel across the continent together.That is, until Luna makes a crucial mistake: She heals a complete stranger.This seemingly innocent act plunges the entire world into chaos. - KyrenoxRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This fiction shows a mixture of Eastern and Western styles. The way it is written shows that the author is a non-native speaker, and this is true, as confirmed by the author himself. That being said, I found the grammar to be sub-par for what I personally enjoy. However, it was not as bad as some, and was still readable. For me, the best part so far is the interactions between the two lead characters: Miche and Luna. The rest of the people seem flat, and have the same general tone/way of speaking.
In fact, this is very much a work-in-progress story. Other characters that have been introduced seem like they all are thrown in there to give info to the reader, but they are not natural. In the first chapter, the narrator is observing the two main characters. He draws conclusions about them, and gives these findings to the reader. But he does so in a way that is unnatural, and often repeats the same phrase so as to hammer away that that is what happened. Repeating phrases and words is another problem that the story has, though I’m sure many readers won’t care very much about this, to me it is quite annoying.
Nevermore is an interesting concept at its core. Two people, a boy and girl, that are not what they seem are taken prisoner when the girl uses magic. The world itself is interesting as well. All of the information in the background of the setting is good, and I liked a lot of it when I was reading. Unfortunately I feel as if the format used for the storytelling is bad. The Eastern style that mimics the translated light novels just doesn’t do it for me that much. Constantly switching back and forth between first and third person, and also transitioning between character POV’s mid-chapter is something I generally abhor nowadays. Not to mention the many tense shifts that happen.
Knowing all of that, I still found myself continuing to read until the end (Chapter 7 is the latest currently). Each chapter is short, with the average being around 1900 words, and it’s sitting
