Description
“Welcome to Dungeonia!”
Jack stared at the words, the true depth of their meaning impossible to know. Before him, in a book never opened, was a list of his attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. The instructions were simple:
“You will have to choose a Race, Class, and Background before you can enter.”
It was Dungeons & Dragons, and the character washim. What’s more, two of his friends were along for the ride. Unable to go home, they created a party of adventurers to see what’s in store for them in this world called Dungeonia.
Will Jack and his friends make it back home? Can their friendship survive under the strains of living in a dangerous realm of fantasy? Will their knowledge of D&D save them from the threats and machinations of goblins, fey, cultists, and an ancient wizard? Are they the only people from the real world trapped in Dungeonia? If everything truly functions like D&D, then who is the Dungeon Master?
Some may be answered, some may forever remain mysteries in…

- sheltron5000Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great writing, good plot, and believable characters. It really feels like the story is going somewhere, instead of just meandering along in a fantasy world. I also appreciate the light touch of litRPG features: it’s all there, but without the obsessive numbers and a endless tables. I look forward to what happens next!
- MooshieDRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This hasn't got me hooked. The page seems to fluctuate a bit, but there's not what I would consider filler, just perhaps the foreshadowing of an epic length story ( I hope?).
Chapter 11 had me on pins waiting to see what would happen the whole chapter, and then still(!) left me hanging at the end. Hoping the writers release schedule is relatively often, but hey- quality over quantity..
thx for the story! - nenomanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Criminally underrated work. Love how the author unashamedly embraces a very specific fantasy subgenre and meshed it with his own brand of nerdy, meme-ish humor. This needs to be on top of the RR rankings.
- CamChowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm two chapters in so sue me, but I very rarely read works that I enjoy here. This is one of them. Very well written, with just teh right balance of comedy and seriousness. Characters all ahve their own personalities and Story is different in that it uses D&D as a basis. I'm really surprised this isn't more popular though
- FaustianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the best stories I’ve read on Royal Road. It made me rediscover my love for D&D. I want to thank the author for his hard work.
- JustAFlukeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A great take on a somewhat common trope in the fantasy world, it delves deep into the characters and their journey to understand, survive, and thrive in their new world. It does a good job getting into the system of 5e while not being boring for those that don't play it. Looking forward to more, which is great since it's released on a decently regular schedule.
Also, Kevin is clearly the best character. - KaljinxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is very exciting to follow and practically my wet dream. DND aspects are nicely done and implemented in a way that was not done before, integrating it into the world and how it would work.
Just a bunch of friends having adventures and everything.
Time to fill the 50 words one two three four - CestarianRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5For how well written the story is, it's surprising that the author can't write a description for shit, seriously, I'd give the story a 1/5 for the description (or the total lack thereof) if it wasn't so bloody good!
Anyhow, it's a regular isekai story basically, if a bit darker than usual, and it has a D&D twist, in other words, they get D&D rules to create their characters, and D&D like gameplay rules to follow. While that may sound boring, it's actually quite amazing, trust me. Guy is DMing the shit out of this story.
There are only 3 problems with the story I can find.
1: Worst description on the entire fucking website; maybe entire internet. (seriously, I decided not to read this story about 5 times before finally getting bored enough to look past that and just try reading the bloody thing, and even then, I started reading the first sentence, forgot about it, and picked it up again 5 days later... Thing is, I binged the entire story, all 49 released chapters of it, when I finally got past that first chapter)
2: POV changes, there's too many of them, usually boring stuff about unintroduced characters, or boring side characters, this shits not good, but the main story is well done enough for me to mostly ignore this issue (e.g. I skimmed through that shit mostly)
3: Slowest release schedule ever. I mean it did ok for the first 4 months, then at the 5th month it's like 1 chapter per month, maybe 2 if we're lucky, after 11 months we get a 3 month gap before the next chapter is posted, and it has now almost been a month since that was posted.
Seriously, I'm kinda hyped about this story, but that doesn't mean much if it's never gonna be finished does it?
Anyhow besides these points, this shit's perfect, and I am most impressed by the characters, this story features probably the most realistic characters I have seen in any story on this site, while admittedly I may have been reading genres where shitty characters are a common problem (fantasy & sci-fi), so I'm somewhat - DarkAlchemistRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have to say that i am impressed by this story. The characters are well thought out and feel real. The interactions between each other and any backround characters always leave me feeling satisfyed. Especially, the lute playing scene.
The story may seem simple but has multiple layers of complexity. It starts off with a group of friends who enjoy playing dnd to distract themselves from their jobs and other possible issues. After ending their latest game with topher making our friendly DM's job harder. They go to sleep and find them waking up infront of a table. I don't wish to go on and spoil anything ,but lets just say it becomes quite an interesting ride from there.
Everything is very well written with little to no obvious grammer errors.
If your looking for a dense band of idiot heroes getting all the attention with no forethought, then go read your average manga because this is not what your looking for. All in all, i would highly recommend this to anyone as long as this story exists. - MadPhilosopherRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The Characters all have their own personality.
Interesting Worldbuilding
Nice Magic concepts
And a seemingly planned out plot
It's still too early to put 5 stars immediately but it's a nice story
