Nemesis Quest [Isekai + LitRPG Satire]
Community Rating
Description
Nemesis Engine engaged. Nemesis found... Transporting...
And now that I had EVERYTHING going in the right direction, I'm sucked into another world as a scullery maid because some ex-boyfriend from high school still hates me? Seriously? I was pre-med! I had a family! And a cat!
What do you mean I can have my cat? Well, that's a start...but once I get the hang of this, someone is going to pay because if I'm what you wished for, your genie doesn't like you. Did I mention I can cook?
Finished and Complete
Warning-this book is primarily a subtlesatireand LitRPG. It makes fun of writers, breaks the fourth wall on a dare, makes a very subtle jab at AI writing, and does a serious flip on a time loop to keep it real.

- StarWaltzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have a really weird set of requirements that barely make sense even to me when I read stories on Royal Road but this ticked off all the boxes!
Maybe not everyone would enjoy it as much as me but that doesn't matter. What matters is I get this review out before I fall asleep!
What I'd give to be shunted off here and get to be a....Nature Mage? Biomancer? Druish? Sounds amazing!
Oh crap I need more words??? Uuuhhhhhhh this story stood out to me after going through ten stories on my Read Later that bored me after a few chapters and I'm so glad I clicked on it!
I'm so sleepy but I need more words. Kkkkkkkk...I really like having characters that are not neurotypical in some way and there's plenty of that here.
It's a fun romp with plenty of satirical shots taken at things people tend to take for granted, like college. Certain people like to pretend college is a liberal haven and this story points out that it's really not.
The setting is interesting. I still need more words uhhhhhh help.
This is a dumb sounding review but seriously, read this story! ReAd It. I beg you. - ririsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A refreshingly novel plot, and satirical of nearly every trope on RR.
Overall, love/resonate with the rants against the hateful injustices and horrors people with disabilities or neurodivergencies face in academia and life every day.
The fourth wall is delightfully transparent.
A very light editing and tightening could ve beneficial, but I read the entire story without finding it annoying.
If you're tired of tropes and want something new and suprising, this might just do the trick.

While I have not begun the story yet, the premise seems interesting and the reviews seem good.
I am currently dissy and my body feels like it is slowing down but over all Im excited to start this story. I usually give stores a beginning 5 star review in hopes of it's potential but I will come back at a later date after reading it to a better more fleshed out review. But I am excited to read it and thats all that matters. - Nafu9Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thoroughly enjoyed the story! Great job :D I loved the 4th wall breaks and the various ways you exploited the in game rules! Can't wait to read more, and already enjoying the dungeon builders story!
(And on the off chance I get to slide into the world, I would enjoy making some dungeons :P) - One-eyed MikeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm greatly enjoying this completed story.
It's a quirky story by a quirky author. The MC is interesting, as she is a married woman thrown into a new world.
She misses her husband and her daughter, but most of all her cat. And she's on the softer end of the autism spectrum.
Obviously that applies to many MCs on Royal road, even if their avid fans don't realise that's what is shown. However, she's more aware of herself than others are, and it feeds gently into the story, without splashing all over it. Her thoughts and confusions enhance the story, and make her feel real. It's worth stressing that most of her reactions have nothing to do with the spectrum...
It's a well-composed story, with a few twists on the normal isekai tropes. The story-telling is realistic, even the flow of skills that she earns.
The initial meeting with the System's representative is very funny, and a great upheaval of the norm. And the system is very satisfactory, and sometimes funny.
In all, I've been happily reading through this story. It's interesting to know it has an end, like a normal book.
I am very happy to recommend it. - Lilian Dipasupil KunimasaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is such a unique style of tackling family dynamics for the gifted yet dysfunctional relationship. The way how each one deal with their inner conflicts and the challenges brought about by a supposedly organized society.
The discrimination and arrogance that is both manipulative and controlling by power hungry people. I love how the author of the book exposed the hidden corruption and lies in such an exaggerated way to shock readers to logical enlightenment. I just wished it was written in smooth and easy flow, but I guess that would make us feel offended and shield ourselves with denials and self justification. Which is why the world is getting emotionally and psychologically sicker.
The chapters 72, 73 and 74 resonate deeply and quiet relatable.
I believe that more arrogant and blinded righteous readers will be offended.
The line every person has a broken child inside is quite powerful. - KaelasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the most engaging, impactful thing a story can have is familiarity. I think Stephen King was where I first heard the idea explained, when he said that in his opinion, the best horror stories are ones in a context that the reader can easily picture themselves in. You can get some good jump scares out of a story on a space station or a submarine at the bottom of the ocean or an ancient temple in the middle of some jungle or desert. But a story set in a small town, University campus, or a normal office will usually hit harder because the reader's mind is able to fill in any blanks, or ADD in details that are only hinted at that are personalized from your own experiences.
Karma's character feels familiar in that same sort of way to me. I am, thankfully, able to interact with the neurotypical world better than she can despite also being autistic, but I still know the shape of so many of the things that have hurt her. I understand family that hurts you, organizations and authorities that don't listen and grind you down. I understand wanting fairness and being mocked for it. I enjoy stories with characters that are more together, more smooth and... functional, I guess. But there's something about having a story with a character that resonates with the less presentable, the less acceptable, parts of myself that feels very validating.
I should probably say something about the writing itself too though. There were some parts in the story that were confusing, though I don't want to spoil any of the plot. And some of the characters could be frustrating. But, and maybe I'm giving the writer more credit than is due, I felt like that was part of the experience. The confusing part of the story, that I think most people were recognized when they get to it, was meant to be confusing. If you keep reading, it does get explained, but at that point in the story, things are confusing in the story, for Karma. As things settle in her head, things settle for us the readers. And I woul - RoboticGolemRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thank you very much for a great read.
There are many ways I could say this, and I'm not sure which way is right, but...
Have a hug from me.
And of course reviews must take a certain number of words, so, I'll admit this is quite a different type of story to what I usually read, but I very much did enjoy it, and battled through some of the slower parts. I hope you have a wonderful day with your fanily, wherever you are. - RabiatorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Karma the MC makes her way through a medieval-fantasy LitRPG world, knowing the genre and exploiting it skillfully most of the time. She is a mature women with experience and attitude, making the narrative richer than most who feature a bland teenager obsessed with leveling. Eventually, her family life comes into play too and gives the story more depth.
The story is obviously intended to be funny and succeeds in it, even the System throws snarky comments at the MC and they are fun to read.
The whole thing does not take itself too seriously, with fourth wall breaks and the MC addressing the reader. It can, however, be a bit convoluted at times when it comes to who is writing whose story at the moment. The main antagonist has created the world as a story but is also in it,
and Karma somehow manages to gain limited co-author rights to manipulate the story
Eventually, the story skips into the time loop genre and here it becomes a bit repetitive at times, when Karma fine-tunes her attempts over many attempts. How she does it makes sense in the context, but for the reader it can get a bit tedious.
Grammar is solid, to the point where I find very few edit suggestions to make. - Pun PunditRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5For veterans of litRPGs, this story provides a fun new perspective on the genre, with a protagonist who I can't help but like.
The world seems well realised so far, with a new spin on some genre conventions that I have not seen before.
The language is good, with very few errors so far.
