- ColvionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly the best comedy story I've read to date. The characters are so (un)(lol)life-like, and the misunderstandings are perfectly possible. This story executes itself superbly well and I honestly wouldn't believe this the work of an amateur writer from its grammar, flow, and style.
On top of all this, the story is wonderfully unique, especially on a site so focused on OP RPG mc's and the like.
I am up to date as of current (The third chapter of the Kingdom of Angolia arc) and am feverently looking forward to updates to the story. - KikanoloRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Necrotourists is a very good blend of a comedy and an adventure, with each element enhancing the other.
The premise of the story is that an ancient and extremely powerful undead gets bored of effectively being a 'dungeon boss' and decides to go on an adventure will all his friends. Being undead and very much out-of-touch with the state of the world, his misadventures result in lots of entertaining chaos.
The humor is without a doubt the highlight of the story. The story utilizes a few different types of humor, and balances them well. The humor is often part of the dialogue or character reactions to settings and events rather than just being jokes, making it well integrated into the story.
The worldbuilding is also a highlight, and is connected to the effectiveness of the humor. A lot of the humor derives from the fact that the main character remembers a fairly standard fantasy world, but the current world is very different in some strange ways that endeavor to satirize or reject a variety of common tropes.
The main and supporting characters are sufficiently defined, being a diverse group with their own quirks and peculiarities, which are taken full advantage of by the story. The style is generally good, but can sometimes be a bit confusing, with transitions being a bit that could be improved. The story is generally well-edited, but this could also be improved a bit as well.
I would recommend this story.
(As of Games Arc Epilogue) - NiksterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0When I first stumbled across this story years ago, I was intrigued by the premise of touring undead. This has not changed one bit since then. The humour is not for everyone, but most of the time I just love it. There are a few things I could nitpick, but all in all it I just enjoy laughing (hard) at the hilarious adventures of the great Archlich Boss.
When - TheLakeKingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Has actually made me laugh out loud on occasion. The characters travel around and interact with some pretty funny and unique situations. The story gives off major anime vibes, but in a good way. Also, the little comics that the author scatters in are really cute.
I would absolutely recommend it. - ceallachRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Best comedy I've read in many a year, love it!
- JeanDRaccRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Finally, I found this one!
I already read some chaps, but I am not free for a while so I'm adding it to my list to read after next year's start when I am free enough to read 1k pages a day. - GlassesRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is terry pratchett level funny.
Not many authors can pull that off. Well done.
I look forward to more and can only hope that my future work can be this funny. - ZhangYRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A comedy about a bunch of OP shut-in misfits leaded by a bonehead, and I love it.
Wealth, romance, opinions: you don't care if you are undead. You have other priorities, like touring, according to the author and the MCs. So if you tour, you have to be dead serious about it. Misunderstandings, shamelessness, obtrusion: you name it, that will happen.
Characters are depicted well enough to feel empathy for them. The author uses tourism to force them to move on quickly enough. Bad jokes may happen. Seriously bad bandwidth-wasting illustrations will happen. But who cares? Not the author. It's funny, readable, and enjoyable. - xanderdeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Started brilliantly, a lich just trying to live his best life and incredibly entertaining in doing so.
however I feel the book started to lose some of its magic in its story, moving from the mc being an op bystander and causing chaos because of it, to an active participant that fights against others at the same level. While I do still love the story, giving it a high rating, I can't help but hope he goes back to his days of taking photos and letting the chaos happen around him. - botka4aetRoyal Road★ 0.5Great start, but further narration turns into a stream of consciousness of a stoned person.
I tried to read this novel twice (now and a year ago). Maybe I'm too old or too young, but I don't see the point. I don't want to empathize with the characters.
What drives the protagonist? Why would he help someone? Why listen to someone weaker than yourself? Meet the enemy and kill him? No, it's better to listen to a fairy tale and take it for the truth.
