Necromancer's Knight: a Light in Death
Community Rating
Description
It was dark, pitch black. Where am I? Where was I last? I died. Am I still dead? A light so dim, yet so blindingly bright to me appeared in a vertical line. The line grew wider and wider, all until the stone slab above my coffin was completely removed. I removed it, I lifted it, without even willing it. And my body continued to move until it was outside of the crypt.
It was night, but there was a full moon. And a little girl in front of me. She clutched a black book to her chest as if it were the last thing she had left in this world. I've heard stories of this, I imagined the possibility, but I never thought it would happen to me.
Tears streaked down her cheeks. She choked the words out. "Please, save my papa!"

- KallistoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I haven't read anything quite like this before on RR! I am pleasantly surprised. The story's idea is interesting and it seems very well written. My only complaint would be that the characters so far have felt a little bit flat. Maybe a POV shift from the MC would help some? But then again book has only just begun. I can't wait to see where the story goes! (And personally the lack of LitRPG elements very much appeals to me here).
- CalaventeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thanks.
the begining is great.
the middle lulled us into normal progression of stories of the genre
then all molds are broken !
the ending is great and bring completion. - Cocop (Cale Plamann)Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an interesting short story.
I usually don't like first person as a perspective, but the author did a very good job with first person limited perspective via a more or less observer so there are no complaints from me there.
My only complaint with the story itself is that it was a little rushed- I feel like the same story could be told with a couple more chapters to fully flesh out the characters (part of the reason why I took some points from style/character).
Stylistically, some of the paragraphs were killing me. This is entirely cosmetic, but the author really needs to seperate them out a little more so that I can tell who is speaking when (and I don't have to stare down a daunting block of text).
Character- The two main characters are absolutely great. Some of the other characters are so/so and border on cartoonish, but they aren't a major focus of the story so I don't find their lack of development to be a problem.
My one real gripe is that the events of chapters 5-6 kinda give me whiplash. The tone of the story changes from REALLY dark to jovial a little too quickly for me.
I would welcome a sequel or a comprehensive rewrite of this story. I liked the characters (and the author writes fairly compelling action) and I would be interested in seeing more of them.
All in all, it's a quick read that's worth reading (and I would encourage the author to continue writing as this was pretty good). - BlindingRadianceRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's short With only 8chapters, but I think that's all it needs, longer doesn't mean better.
It was a good overall experience. - SuratanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I liked it! Read it, not long, but good enough.
I will not forget you little writer! - SlimeActionRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0If you go reading this expecting expansive story with each backstory and clues fully explored, you would solely dissapoint. But if you think it like short movie that suddenly become trending, this totally in that category. It could be explored more, but it does what it want to do until the end. A knight who ressurected and asked for help from little girl.
- ListouRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5but it left me wanting more. Whole thing feels rushed, and i think another few chapters, or longer chapters would have done it good.
Would still recommend to give it a read.
