Naruto The will of Fire (Boruto rewrite)

Description

I always wanted to rewrite Boruto but with a little bit of Xian Xia mixed in. I wanna explore stuff like the eight gates and the Rinnegan. I wanna see what immortality could mean for Naruto characters. Note that I will not make any Shinobi in the story some kind of immortal, just look at what it might mean, sort of like with Orochimaru.

To me Naruto should have been promoted to Chunin when he came back after the bell test. He should have been studying how to be a proper Chunin on the Tenji bridge arc clashing with Sy along the way. He should have been promoted to Special Jonin after defeating Kakazu. He should have been promoted to Jonin after defeating Pain. Tsunade should have promised him the seat of Hokage after his clone's showing against Madara, when the Kage were going up against Madara. And Finally it should have ended with Naruto being the youngest Hokage of all time.

Zabusa lost because he underestimated Naruto and Sasuke's will to fight. And even though I dislike the ending, Madara Uchiha lost because he mistook someone else's will for his own.

Tsunade's will of fire. Might Guy's willingness to die for the future generation. Obito's will being weakened by the life he could have lived resulting in his loss. Everything was about will.

A solid start to this story! I've only watched the first few episodes of Naruto, but this story still kept my attention even when the author was using terminology I did not understand. There were plenty of context clues to help me figure out what they meant. And I'm not going to count it against the story. Characters take a little while to show off their personalities, but when they do, they have good chemistry, Boruto and Sarada especially work well together with their strange friendship/rivalry. I got a good idea of their characters without having to watch the show, which is a big compliment for any fanfiction.
Grammar-wise, the tense can switch between past and present, and commas need to be added in a few places. It gets better in chapter one where the author hits their stride. For someone whose second language is English, I'm impressed on how well everything is written! But they are there, and as an English teacher, I can't in good conscious ignore them. Much better than even some of my passionate students can produce!
I had no problem following the fight scene in chapter one, so no complaints from me there!
That said, I am excited for more! And there's plenty more chapters ahead. Maybe this will finally get me to pick up Naruto again!

I feel like more people should read this. The style while not overly ostentatious communicates the events of the novel with efficiency. The story flows smoothly, though for now it has a general layedbackness. The fights are the most put together part of the story, I like all of them, I especially like the one in the snake chapter. The grammar gets better, and considering the situation it is well put together too. The characters so far are complete, wanna see were this goes. Read it for this if nothing else:
"The very announcement of the establishment of the Leaf Village would have had all the other scattered clans questioning if the newly established Village would go on a campaign of conquest. When the Leaf Village stayed quite for a few years all the other clans saw it as an opportunity to band together whilst the Leaf Village was seemingly gathering it forces. So the First Shinobi war was not that surprising in hindsight as almost all the villages were established in anticipation for war." Iruka Sensei said with a serious expression.
"The relief of the villages would have been tangible when Madara Uchiha had seemingly been killed by Lord First, at the same time their estimation of the power of Lord First would have been pushed violently higher. The records of the Final Valley battle are not so solid, some of them might have been changed for being too mythological. We do however have records of Lord First's battle in the Fourth Great Shinobi War, although he was weaker, we can estimate his full strength when he was alive. The estimates, even while looking at records of the carving out of the Final Valley puts Lord First and Madara Uchiha's strength such that their battle caused earthquakes. The estimates from the war make this a certainty, mountains were cut apart as easily as rotten logs, their Chakra would have felt like a days long storm raging from the direction of the Final Valley."
