Description
The half elf Marisha is alone in a hostile world. She's desperate for meaningful connections with others, and hungry for the power to defend herself and those she holds dear.
Her connections range from an ancient sadistic witch who abuses and torments her in the name of education, to the pettiest of bullies that treats her like trash. Or the so called backstabbing friends. Yet, love and friendship can be found even in the strangest of places.
Forcefully taken from her noble mansion at a young age, she longs to go home. After years of slavery, she finally have the chance at gaining some power of her own.
Marisha finds herself in a large crowded hall made out of sapphire, and here comes the order to kill.
“This is a weeding. Only ten living souls are allowed to leave this hall. If by the end of the day there are more than ten souls left breathing, you'll all die!”
It's about a struggle for freedom. It's about a struggle for power.
But power and freedom come at a price.
Whether it's morality and a clean conscience. Dignity and a sense of ego. Trust and love. Happiness and peace. The demand for power do not discriminate about the price she has to pay.
Power will consume every free piece of her soul until there'll be no shred of freedom left in it.
Freedom is the idea that you have every path available to you.But to achieve freedom, you only have one path, the path to power.Rakisha, Mother of all Demons.

Author blabber:
Although I'm a fan of litRPG stories, I can't bring myself to write one. Systems ruin my immersion and I highly value immersion in my fantasy. I did add something that's 'system-like' at the end of each chapters for litRPG fans. But it's not a system, just a way to keep track of things the MC knows.
This story and world are quite dark and dystopian. Expect characters deaths, even important characters. I kill by a dice throw, and I write by a dice throw. Expect gory scenes and the darker side of the human nature. Although, the sun does shine between the dark clouds at times.
The story pacing may be a little different than what you're used to. The dates are there for a reason.

The colors formatting is optional and can be turned off if it bothers you.

- zyzyx159Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book delivers on its promised R rating. It's kill or be killed and neither the characters nor author are shy about the violence. The killing happens 'on screen' the prostitution (yes there is sex, sex for money, and likely sex without consent) happens 'off screen'. There are no heros here and villains are a point of view. You do what you have to do to survive, or you don't.
- Caedeus1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0First things first: I love the story until now. I appreaciate all the effort the author put into this fiction. Here's a short list of things I like/dislike:
+ I love the idea with the colours! Great to set the mood and makes the read more joyful for me
+ I felt often uncomfortable while reading. That's how grimdark should be in my opinion. Dark topics, but not too blunt or heavy handed
+ creative worldbuilding/magic system; does'nt feel like I've seen it a dozen times already
- only real complaint I have (still minor) is the pacing/flow of some chapters (e.g. end of book one/start of book two) felt a little bit too abrupt to me, like it escalates and then ends too quickly
My conclusion: heavily recommended - FL3xusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I personally think that too many authors are afraid to bring darker elements in to their story, but it in my opinion it makes it more realistic and is a great tool for character development when done right and M.D.Syl finds the exact sweet point that is needed to ensnare you in this story and care about not only the MC but also all the side characters.
I hope M.D.Syl will come back from the break and bring more amazing chapters, because I can't wait to follow Marisha and her companions in their struggle to survive. - Some Guy with a PotatoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is a dark, gritty tale with progression and lit-RPG elements, but they don't really intrude on the story much and are more just the manifestation of a very "hard magic" system. The autor writes realistic characters who, while flawed as people, make decisions that make sense based on their personalities and situation. The method the author uses to narrate the protagonist's inner monologue and emotions is also neat. The world is rich and varied, with secrets hidden in every nook and cranny. The grammer and writting are clear and there's little to no spelling errors. I would very much recommend this story to anyone who likes the darker side of high magic fantasy, so long as you can stomach a little gristle with your stake.
- ZenobiaTayRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a fantastic example of dark fantasy with lit-RPG elements that are seamlessly integrated into the plot. The characters are complex and realistic, making choices that align with their personalities and situation. I particularly enjoyed the unique narration style, which vividly captures the protagonist's inner thoughts and emotions. The world-building is extensive, with secrets to uncover at every turn. The grammar and writing are clear and free of errors. I highly recommend this story to fans of high magic fantasy with a dark edge, as long as you're prepared for some grit and gore.
Story:
A dark and gritty tale with a protagonist fighting for survival in a horrific Mage Tower where murder and betrayal are commonplace. Despite the suffering and grimdark atmosphere, the characters' actions are realistic and make sense based on their personalities and situation. The author skillfully narrates the protagonist's inner monologue and emotions. The story is not for the faint of heart, but the author carefully avoids triggering readers. The fantasy and magic elements provide a backdrop for the characters' realistic actions and emotions. The story is mysterious, with slow reveals about the protagonist and the origins of the Sapphire Tower, keeping readers engaged without resorting to info dumps. Overall, this story is highly recommended for those who enjoy the darker side of fantasy and appreciate realistic characters and emotions.
Style:
Overall, the author's writing style is well-suited for those who enjoy rationalist fiction. The protagonist's mental struggles are effectively conveyed through the use of colored text, yet they remain capable and forward-thinking. The world-building is impressive, particularly with the unique and intriguing use of crystals. The characters are vividly brought to life through their individual body language, distinct language patterns, and accents, making it easy for readers to distinguish between them.

Marisha is an amazing character and one of the best written ones on this site, personally my favorite protagonists are woman but only if they are written well and the author did a fantastic job with her you really feel what she's going through. This is one of the few stories I've added to my favorites, and I can't wait to see what happens next. I'd recommend this story to anyone that likes the genre.
- BroDaBibliophileRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is unique.
Really good magic system.
All around clean pros.
A story thats based in a brutal world without being 'edge-lordy'. Its made all the better by not scurting around the trauma the main character has experienced and is experiencing. Story also has an appropriate timeline. No 100 chapters based around a weeks time. So far the story has spanned a few years all reasonable spaced. - Marshall75Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really have enjoyed reading this story through chapter 22. The setting depicts a pretty awful world of magic and feudal values, which actually seems realistic if such a world ever existed. Those at the top always gather wealth, power and influence and rule over the weak, and without human rights, it's quite a shitty existence for almost everyone. Add the power of magic, and you have this story and a world truly horrible. The main character does her best to survive this world, reunite with her family, and live a secure life. She does some pretty vicious and disgusting things to stay alive, but she hasn't lost her humanity and tries to balance being a half way deceit person and doing what she can to survive. She's already been through hell with the story begins, and it's nice to have a protagonist who's already been disillusioned and knows the dirty ways of the world.
- MichvallRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0BEST fantasy i have read recently. I started reading anda couldnt stop. The author has an interesting way of showing the MC thoughs anda how mess up they are.
I definetly recommend It. The only thing i would change It is removing the end of chapter where the author makes a recopilation of the MC "status" - jjhuttoRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5First of all, great read!
You can tell the narrative has been put together with care, and there are a lot of wonderful intricacies built into the formatting of the story that take time to unfold.
I'm reviewing now because I wanted to address any worries of what to expect. I read a lot of the reviews and the warning given at the beginning of the story, and I was almost hesitant on what I was about to experience.
But over all, this story has not felt horrific or twisted at all, rather it has felt very honest and realistic to the human condition under certain stresses. Maybe it gets much more intense later on... I guess I'll find out on that one, but so far, if you are choosing not to read this one because you are expecting horror or needless graphic content, I think you should give it a chance.
So far it has been no worse than Game of Thrones for me. If you are fine with that, you will be fine with this... Probably.
I don't know, I'm not your mom.
