Starts out a bit dry but gets better a few chapters in once the mc gets to have meaningful interactions with other characters.
I'm not sure about the road-trip tho. Could be great but risks turning the dungeon core theme into meanlingless flavor text. (a lot of dungeon stories lose the dungeon theme once the mc gets a humanoid avatar, in which case the dungeon is just an awkward detour that is effectively a prolonged hero summoning).
I hope there will still be room for dungeon shenanigans in the future.

I'm not going to do a long review, because it only has 6 chapters out as I'm writing this.
Short and sweet, this story has good grammar and tempo, it just needs a lot of fleshing out. It's very light, and you don't feel like you know any of the characters. The goddamn fire snake is more relatable than the MC! (maybe that's exaggerating a bit). It's not interesting, except if you're just looking to pass the time, which any videogame would be just as good as.

By "okay writing" I mean more... the writing is pretty bad, but the style is fun enough to almost make up for it. The bigger problem the story faces - at least by chapter 3, I honestly couldn't say for further on - is that the main character is just so amazingly dumb. It's painful to read a story focused on someone with such absymal decision making skills and situational assessment.
