- JabberwockenRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Interesting premise, and the main character, a TCM practitioner, is modest and down on his luck. He returns home after a business failure to find his house has been rented out without his knowledge, and so has to become a domestic slave *cough* I mean servant to his current tenants to avoid homelessness.
First, the good - I like the main character enough to want him to succeed, and I want to read more of the story to cheer for him.
The bad - all of the frmale characters, thus far, have nothing to recommend them except that they are each pretty. Otherwise, they seem like horrible people; my first impulse in the protagonist's position is to mortgage the house for operating capital, hire a lawyer, evict the tenants, and move on from there. Hopefully the female characters develop some redeeming qualities; their first introduction inspires anger, not interest.
The ugly - This feels very much like a translation, probably from Chinese. The English is mangled, but the story comes through. I'm willing to read through it, but if you aren't used to reading translations, this may not be your cup of tea.
To the author - keep writing! Keep telling your interesting story, and if you want to, come back later and do a line edit on the prose.
