My class [Death Knight] is just barely legal...

Description
This story is currently not being published on amazon.
Ever since meeting his uncle, Arthur has pushed himself daily to achieve an arbitrary goal. He trained like nobody else did, longer than anybody else could. He neglected his personal relationships to pursue something he didn't even understand, in hindsight. When the time came for his class awakening ritual, he was ready. He was ready to receive a powerful starting class and to break free from his boring lifestyle.
Well, you know what they say, "Be careful what you wish for, lest your wish be granted."
Arthur was assigned the death knight class, which is justbarely, technically, maybelegal.
With it, he learns about what drove him to such simple minded ambition in the first place: his affinity. Now, he's faced with a dilemma: will he embrace it, or reject it?
'My class [Death Knight] is just barely legal' is a laid back story with occasional tension, that describes Arthur, a young man, exploring the world, the system and his own mental health as he pursues his ambitions.
This story is the first serious fiction I ever wrote, so while criticism is definitely welcomed, keep it polite. I'm going to rewrite the first few chapters at some point, since they're not as good as my later ones, but I'm focusing on my current chapters first. I don't have time to do both yet, since I'm also in the middle of my exams.
What to expect from this story:
-Litrpg elements
-A chaotic good aligned protagonist (that starts off as a neutral good protagonist)
-(Hopefully) interesting characters.
Whatnotto expect from this story:
-Grimdark elements
-Harem
-An enslaved protagonist. (I mention this due to the background of the mc's class)
Release schedule: 1 chapter every other day, 2pm European time (14:00)

- ZerovexRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It a good story hopeful there is some character maturity it early to tell but so far really good. I don't give out review out easily please don't make me regret it by going on a (indefinitely) hiatus and then drop the story quoting a mental health which is a catch all for i dont know what to write
- ChipcarverRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story delves into "good necromancer" type ideas, but without all the undead raising. The author seems to have put a lot of thought into his magic/rpg system, and it shows! The long series of fight scenes can be a bit boring, as you lose the tension after the first couple. But the author has done a good job portraying the life of an adventurer.
Note to the Author: While the side stories about Michael are some of the most enjoyable character scenes, they don't seem to tie into the main storyline very much. That may be intentional, but just wanted you to know. Thanks for a great read! - Illinois is homeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the story and the world the author has made can't wait to see more. U especially like the system and the role of the system.
Words to fill up space. Words to fill up space. Words to fill up space Words to fill up space. Words to fill up space. - Leylin_farlinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the story and i recommend it strongly, the style is ok, its not extraordinary but its solide and give a strong basis for the story, the story is interesting and entertaining easy to follow and get hooked up with, grammar is very clean and easy to read and characters are really fleshed out for us, specially for the pov's that the author use to give us a glimpse for what their character is like and i think its quite nice as well
- KhajarRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'm enjoying the story so far, but I have a few criticisms:
The time skip on the MC's childhood and teenage years was too abrupt. That was the best time for character building and it felt like a big waste to me...
The MC is extremely inconsistent. He is described as being a commoner, raised in the boonies, and yet his train of thought is that of a well educated person. He feels more like an isekai protagonist coming from our world, full of modern knowledge... He seems too smart for his background.
You say the MC grew up doing nothing but physical training and avoiding social interaction... and yet he becomes a well spoken young man, with zero problems talking to people...
You say affinities affect the personality, and yet the MC comes out as extroverted and light-hearted... He feels more like a wind or fire affinity...
The MC is too perfect, and perfect is boring... Our flaws are what makes us interesting after all.
My suggestion would be to give Arthur crippling social anxiety, or something along those lines... Flesh out his childhood more, showing him slowly isolating himself. Maybe make the neighbor's daughter have a huge crush on him, and follow him around the whole time, for some comic relief... And maybe a possible recurring character... Of course I know it is too late for that, but take those as ideas for the next one...
I still intend to follow this story to the end and see how the author improves throughout it.
For someone new to writing, and using his second language on top of that, the novel is not that bad at all. - ObsidianPigmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Fantastic read. While many reviews seem to complain about his strange decisions and mindset, I actually find the protagonist's struggle against his flaws/affinity influence the best part of the book. And the combat and power progression are both quite good as well. I'm a big fan. Also, the waifu is simply fantastic. It's lacking a little in grammar, as or seems the author doesn't follow the reader's edit suggestions sometimes if ever. Great read overall.
- SyphiralaeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So! Really enjoying the story. As this is a lit rpg, there are several things that are staples such as stats and such. Where I'm going with this is that the 'system' as it were is designed well with no excessive bloat of unneeded things and makes sense with consistency in regards to the story(specifically the affinities which make a lot of sense and are a point brought up a lot.
- BlackGreenRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Early days still and the title will probably need to be changed at some point. But overall the story has been good so far and definitely worth a read.
Pacing is satisfying but the author needs to be careful.
It's felt a little rushed and the author might want to reduce the leveling speeds slightly to avoid breaking the level average across the world.
Makes sense for a massive level gain from first fight with a hugely OP boss that just happens to fit the MCs abilities to counter. But if he races through too many levels it will make the concept of bronze rank adventurers (let alone normal people) a bit silly.
The LITRPG elements have been done very well.
Though slightly surprising there were no new skills for such a large level increase.
Grammar has been fine throughout. If there's been any errors they haven't detracted from the flow or emersion.
Characterisation is okay but the author will likely need to spend some time deepening it for the MC and his new allies.
I understand the dark attribute was linked to his obsession with training (great way to build that in BTW without the MC having some weird back story). But now that his aims have changed he'll need to have a more meaningful motivation going forwards.
Even if the MC isnt sure what to do now his original goals are unachievable this can be rich source material for self reflection and growth.
It might be interesting to learn more of how people get their more advanced classes etc if this can be done without too much exposition.
This is linked to my earlier comment about being careful with pace going forwards.
Overall a really good start to what could be a great story. - CrowdTrikeRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The later chapters may get better..but the MC isn't a character. Seems more like a nebulous idea without personality. Much more character in every other named person, side or minor.
MC supposedly wants to be free and be powerful. Free from what? His family that supported his efforts %110 to their detriment? He was given everything he wanted and given little to no responsibility. He doesn't care about other people his whole life...and now he suddenly does?...pass - ShadowKnight6992Royal Road★★ 2.0It's a okay novel but the pov switches are abrupt and don't offer anything useful so it could definitely do without and the Mc not putting points in mind is really annoying you would think commensense would dictate that a higher mind stat makes you more stable and less likely to go insane also his class is meant to be a servant class so a higher mind star could make him have more individuality and harder to control by "master" classes
