Description
Submission for Royal Road Community magazine.
In his first year in Silver City's downtrodden and destitute Underlevel, Xylen, aka X-18, has had an easy time being a hitman. Killing random criminals doesn't have much blowback in lawless Underlevel. Especially not when you're shielded by your rich boss.
But Xylen's string of assassinations is finally reaching their culmination. The crime lords of Underlevel decide to retaliate. At the same time, Xylen's boss reveals the assassinations are part of a plan. One that will make not just Underlevel, but all of Silver City sit up and take notice.
Caught though he is between a conspiracy and criminal masterminds hunting after him, Xylen is not going out so easy. He's not just a cybernetically Augmented assassin. Xylen is a survivor.

- HatohatoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0GeorgieD's Morgue is a super fun and fast-paced experience, wasting little to no time plugging you into high-octane cyberpunk action, full of flair and a more than healthy measure of explosions and some guts.
While the threads of a bigger story are still being sown, I'm looking forward to seeing where it all leads up to, as I'm intrigued and thoroughly entertained at this point.
Prose is clean, functional, and fun -and this review is padding for words. (´・ω・`)
My only caveat, more of a nitpick, is that this being a -royal road magazine entry- has some repercussion in some pieces of dialogue and word choices that are a little too on the nose as a way to tie-in with the prompt in question.
