He thought that his normal and unremarkable existence would continue for the rest of his life, a thought that was shattered when he was 12. His parents were forced to take the blame for something that they had not done, causing them to be publicly executed.
Liang Chen had been told about how just the heaven's were, how they would punish evildoers and those who killed the innocent. But now his parents were dead, and the man responsible for it walks free without suffering anything. That was when Liang Chen learned the truth. The heaven's aren't just, they are indifferent. That was when he decided, if the heaven's won't send down their wrath on the man who caused his parents to die, then he would.

- Brian BrunoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Of all the xianxia/cultivation novel's I've read on this site, this one is the most true to the genre. As xianxia and the Chinese cultivation novel style are generally different from western based fantasy novels I can't say that a reader new to this genre will enjoy this book, but someone who likes the genre should definately check it out.
It is a bit more fast paced than most xianxia I've read, which I actually think is a good thing, cos reading hundreds of chapters just to finish one arc gets tedious. Many of the typical xianxia tropes are there despite the faster pace, they just happen quicker. For example, instead of it taking 300 chapters for the MC to move to a new region/world/universe, it only takes about 50 ish chapters.
Overall, good xianxia that I recommend for those who enjoy the genre. - SrayanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am going to disagree with some of the previous reviewers. I am happy to say this is an excellent cultivator type novel, with a few twists. Mainly that the MC is a lone wolf for a lot of the book, there is little "sect action" seen because mostly he isn't i. A sect. Technically he does become the leader of a sect but he sort of stumbles into it and doesn't make a big deal of it. It is mostly a ferociously aggressive power-curve due to the internal agony that drives the MC, his great will, and the nature of the universe he lives in, as well as the type of civilisations in it (usual bad neighbor type people all around).
The MC is basically a simple revolutionary, although he doesn't think of it like that, but even though he thinks he is acting as an individual, he is also setting a most powerful example and personal ethic that is characteristic of many "first mover" revolutionaries. He is a man of actions, and has not fully formulated his "revolutionary theory" yet. No doubt one of his followers will get around to that.
Plot: it starts with the child MC witnessing his parents being executed (they are innocent of the alleged crime), due to political machinations of a sect. I was going to say a corrupt sect, but all sects are corrupt by definition. He realised that there is no mechanism (either universal or civilisation based) for justice and decides to take truly horrifying risks to become powerful enough to "make a difference".
He turns out to have a special background - it's the "adopted foundling" mythos. Older than the hills. Old even in Moses time. But it is old because it works. The foundling finds out more about his background, special abilities and gets some help along the way. He also acquires a lot of enemies.
What I particularly like is the]at the MC doesn't just go around casually beating baddies up. He also thinks about the nature of good and evil, and whether his acts can have any meaning beyond self-actualisation. His thoughts start out simple but becom - Wo7fRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Proper slow burn xianxia. A strong plot that drives a story which is not always present in many stories finds its footing here. Driving our truly unique MC to pursue his cultivation to the point of absolute destruction. Forced out of all he knew and loved to gain ultimate strength all while cultivating a strong Dao of moral character that will truly transcend and shake the world.
Absolute new favourite.
Side note- give any story a chance and it will grow on you just like a lightning seed!! - celiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This takes me back to the first time I've discovered xianxia. It's...well, like the review title says, as xianxia as it gets.
Story wise, nothing revolutionary. The premise is what you'd typically find in good old xianxia. Nothing bad with that, though. I still enjoy reading the good olds. I never tire of 'em.
Also, when I say it's as xianxia as it gets, I mean it in almost all aspects. Which includes the uuh, 'weirdness' or 'quirkiness' or...idk the right term for the vibe I usually get from a typical xianxia. Can't really put it into words either.
Weird things just...happen in the world of xianxia. As well as in the world within this story. The side characters are not the most realistic (the villains in particular). The powers are a tad bit exaggerated. The power system works under the rule of 'anything goes'.
But that's good old xianxia for you. I've learned to adjust my mindset to its...weirdness.
And the prose style isn't...the most sophisticated. In fact, it's a bit thoughtless. Careless. But it's not to the level where it hinders my reading experience.
The story's still fun to read.
But what makes it twice as fun to me is the romance. I'm a romance enthusiast, what can I say hahahah. The romance in this story is, surprisingly, the only aspect that's not 'typically' xianxia. Most romance subplots in classic xianxia are...well, they're shit. But this story nails its romance pretty well.
I'm actually really invested in it haha. Not sure if it's going to take a backseat in later chapters, though (as in the case in most non-romance-focused stories). I hope not.
But for now, I'm really enjoying it. It's still secondary to the main plot, of course. But the way it's handled pleases me.
All in all, a fun read. You'd notice inconsistencies here and there, and some events that happen may seem logically questionable, but I was able to overlook it. They're pretty forgivable according to my standards. - noksRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0It's xianxia done right. The tropes are well fleshed out that they barely come off as such. Even when there are unreasonable characters they are given care and if not them, then the situation is given enough attention so you are reading something well crafted instead of something that wants to achieve a word-count.
Kudos, definitely worth the time to read. - matthewrbirdRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The early portions of this series are good with a, semi sort of morality with the protagonist focusing on harming those who have some assosciation with what I would define as evil, but as he gets stronger he joins a sect and becomes a bit of a murder hobo. Its not a bad series but just not to my taste.
- WaryorWearyRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Started out as a revenge story with plot armor risks. Enjoyed it.
Migrated into a sexy rivalry. Enjoyed it.
Changed into a clan management story, dumped it.
Went back to Revenge story and dumped the sexy rival onto a bus.
MC is no longer human and barely corporeal, possibly not mortal but can still be killed (maybe)? Fights are all "bang, I shot you. No, you missed. Ok, Bang-- this one got you. No, I became a flow of water and water can't be hit by bullets. Ok, I use a heat bullet. Fool, this isn't even my final form...". Each fight can take multiple entries to finally finish, there's barely anything interesting left and little of that makes sense in context, there's no sense of scale or vulnerability, it's just words words words Words woRds wOrdS WordS.
Story blew up in scale too fast, readers were exposed to information that shouldn't have been shared, nothing actually seems to make sense
universes exist as Matroyska dolls of living people who can exist within other doll layers and interact and blah blah)
I gave the start 4.5 stars, but eh now. - angryfanRoyal Road★★ 1.5The authors keeps changing the story making it very confusing. There is so much changing of the story line that you can skip many chapters and still know what is going on. The story will change making the previous chapters irrelevant.
There is no exploring the MC's powers he just goes from one situation to another without fully explaining his powers which will change in the next 20 chapters.
The character development is nonexistant he is mad someone for killing his family but that rarely comes up. He does small acts of kindness but they are so out of place and badly written that they don't convey the MC's thoughts and feelings.
The author seems to have no originality because most of this story is full of cliches that are obvious to people familiar with chinese light novels. The MC goes from on cliche plotline to the next very rapidly making each chapter shallow.
I couldn't make it past chapter 76 AKA chapter name: Golden Chariot - TyckaRoyal Road★★ 1.5It's my opinion so if you don't like it, ignore it.
The title of this story really got my hopes high but after I have read all chapters that are released I released that this story isn't even worth half of this OP title. First thing is Mc personally which is naive and stupid because of how much ignorant he is. Secondly even after his parents were killed in front of him and he decided to get revenge for them no matter what he still keeps distracted by stupid thing like some random girl or so called his parents teaching.. And every time he does something which are agians those stupid teachings he keeps saying sorry to thin air while on his knees... And he had perfect opportunity to silence some random boy who keep beating him constantly, he still let him cause of some random girl.. I just can't understand how child with fragile mind can't be influenced by those events and turn evil or crazy in some way...
Anyways for those who like naive and stupid Mc's this one is for you..
Sorry for bad English - SkyDuckRoyal Road★ 1.0Felt too much of a focus on stopping evil and embroiling innocents in wars, fights, etc, which is the most unrealistic thing even in a fictional story. Story is inconsistent and is moving way too fast, that it makes it not the most interesting read. It just feels like a generic translated Chinese novel that has 5000 chapters tbh (yes I've read many before, wasted a crap load of time)
