Description

Autumn Town is packed with witches. But, not the type in storybooks. No warts or long pointed noses, no cackling laugh or claws for fingers. The sight of a candle burning above your newborn’s head is considered a blessing. A sign that your daughter will be something great. A chance for her to flourish at the most prestigious witch school. The Mistball Academy. No one suspects that a rebellion might be brewing right under those very grounds. No one suspects where the monsters come from.

In the center of it all, 14-year-old Lucinda Mist stands. She was born on the day of the blue moon, a day that happens once every ten thousand years. A prophecy had predicted that she would gain unimaginable powers. The burden that comes with the gift was left unspoken, for fear it may be true. On the first day of Mistball Academy, she meets Hexa Luckberry. A girl just like her. Two powerful girls, residing in the same place. Innocent. Weak. Unprotected. How could the monsters resist the chance for revenge? To take back what is rightfully theirs? Lucinda and her friends try to navigate their way through a maze of questions and possibilities as strange things start to happen. Glowing red eyes. Moving shadows. Scattered corpses. Clues head to dead ends and pursuing the one important lead they have might mean death.

I remember this story so many months ago. It was not the greatest thing in the world. Like any new fictions, it had its ups and downs. Not perfect by any stretch but neither would i have called it inherently bad. It was an average novel, ready to made into something that would reach our hearts.
That time might never have come but that doesn't matter. The promise there was is still the most important. Even unfinished works can be enjoyed, after all. I will give this a 5/5, even if most wouldnt have given it half. I thought it was great and that's all that really matters in the end :)
