Description
This story is currently on an indefinite hiatus
Status as of September 2025: Hiatus continues, the original rewrite of this story is so different that it is hard to still call it a rewrite, so in light of that, the rewrite is now a new original project. That does not mean I am abandoning this one, instead I will take some time to get familiar with this one again and start a rewrite in the future.

- L00000cy8Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like it, it's actually amazing. I was pleasantly surprised while reading it.
The novel itself is good, and the story is also great. One thing I really love is the creativity in the imagination, i.e., the level of detail the author provides. This makes me feel like I am right there. So, keep it up!
Updating review
I read more of it on my other account, and I have to say, everything is still amazing! I'm pleasantly surprised by how the quality is consistently good. The main character has a really likable personality, and the other characters are well-written too. I haven't caught up fully yet, but I'm in the process.
Consistency is a strong suit here. The quality of writing remains consistently high, and the main character's likeable personality, along with the well-crafted supporting cast, elevates the overall experience.
It's a rarity to find an author who remains so steadfast in their storytelling. The commitment to producing engaging chapters. I'm eagerly awaiting further developments in the narrative. Keep up the exceptional work!
Thank you - nzswc3iRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm mostly writing this review because that story just have one and probably deserve more.
I'll start by saying that I like that story so far (as of chapter 28).
The grammar: Ok. There are a some incorrect formulation, missing/extra words. (once or twice a chapter), and it probably would benefit from either an editor or a pass in a correction software, just to detect those cases.
The style: The style is ok. Not fancy nor extra, but it doesn't go in the way of the story. Some sentences are a bit clumsy, (tied to feelings or specific elements of the world), but overall it is ok.
The story: I'd like to read more of it, but so far I like the world. (It's "standard" fantasy world mixed with interesting elements / twists). Elements that were weird so far seems to actually have an actual explanation (thank you author for the side stories, they help a lot for the motivation of some of the characters or of the world). Some interesting elements of the world have yet to receive more information, but I like the world.
The characters: It's... weird. And will probably require some suspension of disbelief to enjoy the mc. She spend her whole life in a cage, outside of the world but sometimes have almost modern common-sense/ethics/... and on other points is completely clueless. For me, personally, it works. It makes the story enjoyable, as the mc doesn't have a complete alien mind. It's definitively not a psychological novel, there's a shortcut there to make the story more appealing, not grimdark. Side characters so far seem ok, not much of them as of yet.
So. overall. I like the story. - HikinBearRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I like the idea of a Main Character who is struggling. This story opens with the MC being brutalized by unknown people for unknown reasons. Then we eventually find out the MC is suffering from memory loss and doesn’t know who she is, what she is, and why she was there in the first place. Other than the first group of people are really EVIL with no redeeming qualities. Then we have several chapters where the MC stumbles through event after event and we slowly learn she is Unique and possibly immortal. Maybe.
The World building is not well thought out. We slowly learn the world is very complex with humans and multiple races kind of coexisting, but often not well. Humans are xenophobic, but other races may not be much better.
As a reader, it eventually becomes difficult to care about the MC, but the story is interesting enough to keep reading just to see what happens next. Switching focus to side characters is abrupt and confusing.
The writing is OK overall. Grammar is OK with several errors per chapter.
Overall, not a story to recommend. - Foxbat40Royal Road★★★ 3.0This book spends lots of time repeating itself after a good first couple chapters.
Then you basically spend 19 chapters killing bugs.
This section could be have been shortened to 4 chapters easily.
It is very hard to get invested in a main character that has amnesia, or just nothing to begin with. No personality just a victim of abuse. Very hard to relate to. No name character with only a thin venire of personality.
The story just goes nowhere as the main character is stuck in the same setting forever. - Marshall75Royal Road★★★ 2.5I really enjoyed the first 10 chapters. The MC is some unknown humanoid species who’s spent her whole life in a pit being abused. She escapes with some humans and is following them, but then some stuff happens and she ends up fighting bugs with some nature spirit chapter after chapter. Chapter 40 and they’re still at it. The earlier human characters, including the clan who abused her just don’t return to the story and instead we get some other humans who want this or that, capture the MC to harvest or something. I really wasn’t interested in them and was pretty much skimming over it. 20-25 chapters of the MC just fighting bugs, leveling up, getting new skills, etc. Pretty much just a lot of plot that has no suspense as it’s repetitive to the point where you don’t really care what happens. It salvageable if these chapter could be reduced to 5 or so, and the human characters have a better focus.
- Ciao LimitedRoyal Road★★ 2.0This story has an interesting premise, the main character is rife with opportunities for drama and growth, and overall Misfit's Journey has incredible potential.
Unfortunately, based on everything I've read so far, that potential has been entirely squandered. What could have been an interesting fish-on-a-planet-without-water story with an MC that has to cobble together an understanding of what even is a world, let alone how to survive in one, instead comes across much more like a plain toast isekai.
The fact that a creature that has known nothing but pain and suffering even has a sliver of a concept of what 'gratitude' is is unbelievable enough, but this story goes so far as to give the MC actual social skills and a sense of morality and empathy.
Overall, this story fails the most fundamental requirement for investment: establishing a framework from which the reader can suspend their disbelief.
Maybe this story will evolve enough to move past its egregious mishandling of its central premise, but I won't be around to find out. - GraysonGalahadRoyal Road★★ 2.0First thing you need to know and understand. What im about to say is a bit rude, wait another year before you start this fiction. More details below.
Grammar and use of language:
Just about perfect.
Story and plot:
I tried really really hard to like it. You have to be extremely patient for any return on your investment of time for the plot to progress at all. It's extremely sad for me to write this but i think its important for people to understand what they're getting into.
The first 10 chapters were great, we learned so much about our protagonist. But it's slowly getting hard to sympathise with a person without a name. I tried telling my friends about this story and why they should give it a read, but I remember biting my own tongue because half the time I said "the protagonist". I've started calling her, "girl" now, as that's been the only title she's been given so far.
Then we reach the crawl that has been the last 30 chapters all the way to 41... The tree sequence... Nothing happens, she fights, levels up, fights, levels up. Rinse and repeat. It has been almost a year now, and the first arc still feels miles away from a satisfying conclusion.
I've invested quite a lot of time reading this fiction, I'll see it through, THERE IS SO MUCH POTENTIAL, but the hump that is the first arc seems unending.
I will without a doubt edit my review again in the future. This will happen if; the story picks up pace, the character has developed a personality that has them make fundamental choices rather than being "reactive" in story decisions, we have reached chapter 80.
