Want to catch up on Minakai from the beginning?
The series is also available on Amazon.
Minakai. Monsters from other worlds that find themselves pulled through time and space into the mysterious monster towers that dot the Earth's landscape. When a tower opens its doors, humans venture inside seeking the vast riches that lie within, including the much-sought Minakai eggs.
Aurin is an aspiring tamer who ventures to Harmony Tower in the quaint town of Hazelton alongside his Minakai, the masked lizard, Shamtile. He has a simple, yet lofty, goal; to reach the top of Harmony Tower and prove to the world that he will be the best tamer the world has ever seen. He's joined by his newfound friend, Luna, and her own Minakai, the water drake, Innogon. Together they dare to ascend each floor and face whatever challenges come their way.
Minakai is what you get if you take a heap of Azure Dreams, a dash of Monster Rancher, then a sprinkling of Pokémon. You mix them all together and serve in a light novel package. It has heart, battles, and over a hundred monsters, from cute to awe-inspiring, that will bolster Aurin and Luna's teams.
Release schedule: Chapters every Monday.

- Drew_EldridgeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I haven’t finished yet, but I’ve really been enjoying it! Like Pokemon, but better. It’s well written and transportive. The author does a good job of building up the story and characters. I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest unfolds. I also think it could be adapted into a great manga or video game.
- NetiZenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright, I'll admit it, it's a pokemon knockoff. Something that the author admits.
However! That doesn't mean that it doesn't have everything that made pokemon awesome! Not the new weird pokemon either, but the classic 150 that you can name off the top of your head!... Or at least I used to... Anyway! Just because the story is being retold doesn't mean it doesn't have all that fluffy goodness that made the orignal something you came back for again and again... Almost makes me want to plop down 1 meter from the tele (you know, so close it'll rot your eyes out) (On the carpet, not a chair! It's important!) and stair unblinkingly at some cute critters beat the *bleep* out of each other for their master's entertainment!... wait... - SkelatoxRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5TLDR: If you know what Azure Dreams is, odds are that this story will make you feel all kinds of nostalgic. Otherwise, it's a very solid monster-collecting and battling story, if you can deal with some rough pacing in the early parts.
Starting strong, the battles are an absolute high point, being fast and snappy, with nothing drawn out, and every hit feeling impactful. There are no HP bars, or slow whittling down of impossibly strong titans. A hit either connects, and matters, or it doesn't. The rest of the writing is, at worst, competant, and at its best, hits some very enjoyable peaks.
Grammar-wise, things aren't perfect, but they're as close as could be expected. There is the occasional errant error, but they aren't common, and the author is quick to correct them when they get pointed out.
The story itself however, starts pretty rough. The pacing in the first arc is a bit choppy, with large timeskips, and some scenes missing that feel like they shouldn't be. This leads to some of the main characters' growth feeling unearned, or cheapened. This has the knock-on effect of the power levels for the antagonists feeling inconsistent, since the protagonist grows quickly in power in a very short period of (on-screen) time. Thankfully, the second arc is doing a lot better on these fronts, and this seems to be something the author is keeping in mind going forward.
In our final category, the best I can say is that the main characters are... good enough? Of the five 'core' human members of the cast, none are especially flat, per se, but none seem to have any substantial depth yet, either. Though, we are early enough into the story that that can easily change. Most notably, however, is the fact that I had to put the caveat 'human' into that sentence, because the monster themselves are fantastic. They all come across as lively and full of personality, with notable, and clearly intentional exception to the ones whose personality has them be devoid of liveliness.
On that note, s - WarlordshRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A great read, .
Some minor spelling mistakes.
but nothing that takes from the story.
A new setting for a pokemon like creatures world.
That gives it a nice twist to the genre.
Characters feel lively each with there own personality.
Including the minokai.
I am curious to see how the creator will keep it up when it becomes 20+ different minokai.
So far each creature has there time to shine and own personaltys as the creator did a good job making the world seem alive.
