Might As Well - A Xianxia Isekai

Description
I don't know what I expected of the world when I was reincarnated.
A LitRPG levelling experience? Lord of the Rings style High Fantasy? The same old stuff as back on Earth?
I'll admit it, a world of Demons and Cultivators certainly was within my expectations.
What I most certainly wasn't within those expectations was for the Empire I was born in to be over a hundred light years across... or for the very reality in between my fingers to shift like leaves in wind.
What am I supposed to do now?
One thing's for certain, Ido notwish to spend the rest of my life in this boring village. Once I obtain the means to leave... I might as well see what this outrageously big world has in store for me.

- BurlRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0While there a lot of cultivation stories, this one feels unique. It really comes down to the MC who feels relatable and makes intelligent decisions. I really enjoy the writing style and how the author has gone out of their way to create something different. A non-murder hobo, intelligent, practical, and decent MC that also isn't afraid to do what is necessary and non-hand wringing over when he has to do unpleasant things.
- Steven AlexanderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very good story that I hope gets finished. I heard somewhere that many RR readers will not even start reading a story unless it has at least 1000 pages in the stats. Might As Well has 323 as of this review. I took a chance and it payed off. Well done!
- That_KidRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A great story that's taken the xianxia genre where I didn't think it could go. The style of the story is very welcoming and easy to get into. You start reading and immediately know that the author has put some thought into how they want to write this story.
The grammar is almost perfect with a few words here and there that are miss spelled but nothing really all that noticeable.
The characters in this story are a far cry from the one dimensional murder hobos we usually see in xianxia/wuxia. Every character that matters has a personality and even the murder hobos we do see don't just do it for the sake of it. They are still human deep in their alien cultivator hearts. And the main character him self turns out to be a funny and intelligent MC who for now is just trying to figure out what to do in his new huge world. After being free from a pervasive mental intrusion.
Now finally the story, I saved the best for last. The story is handled masterfully by the author. Every trop of xianxia is twisted into something unexpected and given deeper meaning. The 'heavens' is an amorphous eldritch thing that actively destroys anything that steps outside of its given rules. Rules that it on occasion just change. Yep the heavens change the rules of the world at random whenever it wants and u just have to figure out how shit works again. (Also bare with the Mc in the beginning of the story the heavens was doing its thing to him). Even without that you can tell the author put a lot of thought into how they want to write this story with how detailed and unique the politics of the world are. And everything in this story just makes sense. It all feels organic and nothing makes u ask, 'would it really be like that?'. Completely emersive and I can't wait to see what other ideas come from this book. And as a side note I never found my self hating the few chapters that have different POVs they were always interesting and added more to the story ALWAYS. Especially the first two we get, don't - YacovoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has a good foundation. The MC is fairly smart, doesn’t try to do too many amazing things given physics might be a bit screwy in this world. There is no grand destiny for them so far given the size of the world.
The world-building is nice so far and is probably going to be a focus with how large the world is. The scope is fairly small given the MC is still a child, but will most likely grow as the MC does. - EdLincolnRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story manages to start out without the cliche Xianxia openings...no over-the-top bullying, Grandfather in a Ring, or Poor Abused Orphan. It has an Isekai protagonist who actually interacts with decently portrayed normal kids as opposed to doing infant calisthenics while no one notices. It also does something that Beware of Chicken did well but few other stories attempt...showed the disconnect between how the situation looks to the Cultivator and how they look to the mortals. There were also some nicely handled horror elements. Unfortunately, the early chapters have a lot of typos.
- MarchewmenRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Xianxia that actually through description or dialogue expands and describes the world, so many of xianxias focus on cultivators only, and world is not expanded.
Sadly this story has flaws (chapter that could benefit from one more dialogue, forgetting an alias), that are visible, but they do not detract from overall experience somehow.
