Description
Do you ever just murder someone?
Danny doesn't remember every single thing that's happened to him. But maybe some of his "friends" do. And maybe his fire-breathing dog does as well. [[Updates are currently done weekly or bi-weekly.]]
Welcome to the Overwoods, where snow falls in green-blue crystals, you (probably) don't get brainwashed, addiction of all kinds is (probably) not everywhere, and where you (probably) don't fall 500 floors to your death.
Did we mention the half-horses and half-birds?

- Chimi_666Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has a unique style that captures the chaotic nature of life. It may be confusing at times, but that is a reflection of the protagonist's own inner turmoil. The grammar is well done, and the characters are complex and troubled, making for interesting interactions. I look forward to seeing where the story goes.
- T.D.TerrellRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This, as my review title suggests, is a fun read. It's a nice bit of super hero science fiction, and I found myself eagerly turning the pages.
Let's break down the score.
Style 4/5
the first person perspective is easy to follow, but there are large jumps in time can be a little disorienting at times. But overall I had no problem following along with the character and the characters he interacts with.
Story 5/5
This is where this piece excels. The world building is definitely the strongest part of this story. I was instantly drown in to the story because of the world the author built around it. It's dark and dystopiain.
Grammar 4/5
I didn't notice any spelling errors, but the formatting needs to be fixed. The solid wall of text can be daunting . But this can easily fixed, so it's not that big of an issue, and I will definitely change this score if it gets fixed. I do recommend still giving this piece a read.
Character 4.5/5
The characters are young (at least for me) but they act Thier age. There is a good bit of dialog in chapter two that I feel really Illustrated some of the more unsavory characters in this dystopian world, but it did it without making them down right "bad"
It's a fun read. I recommend it!
This was written on my phone. Please forgive any spelling or grammar errors - BullerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I read the first four chapters of this story. Good characters, good grammar, terrible formatting, and I still don't know what the plot is going to be about later down the line. We've had a bit of a focus on unrelated subjects, or maybe that's me not understanding how some of it is meant to sit together.
There is only so much information I can take in before it starts being no fun and that line was reached by chapter 2. Piling onto it made brain go ow. While I do understand the need to get a lot of info over to the reader, it can be done in a way that doesn't leave the person with an desire to just skip ahead.
4/5 for now. Might change in the future. - Slifer274Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall: I like your concepts, but the pacing is way too fast. Let the settings and character breathe more, give them a little more description, and try to spread the backstory out a little more.
Style: 4/5 Generally, the story flows smoothly, and the prose is decent to read, but I think there’s some issues with telling over showing—some information is just given to us haphazardly and definitely could be introduced more smoothly. There’s some awkward sentence structure, and it often feels like you’re cramming in exposition rather than allowing it to smoothly mesh with the plot. Quite a few segments lack imagery and feel underdescribed. Also some issue with occasionally switching between present and past tense when I’m pretty sure the story is meant to be read in past tense.
Story: 3.5/5 A lot of info dumping from the get go hurts this score. I wish we could have seen the world develop, rather than get a ton of information at once—the initial chapters feel like an entire world building document and character sheet being copy and pasted with some plot in between, where it should be the opposite way around. Furthermore, I think events are paced too quickly and not given enough weight—for instance, in the very first chapter, six thugs materialize out of nowhere in a matter of one paragraph without earlier setup, and between chapter 2 and 3 a whole year passes without warning, like we’re going from prologue to main story.
Backstory is kind of tacked on to the story, and I’d love it if we could discover more about these characters over time rather than through a chunky monologue in their own mind.
I’ve been criticizing the way the story is written quite a bit, but it is a fun read—intriguing concepts, interesting world, a plot line with promise—all it needs is more polish and expansion, and it could be bumped up a whole star.
Grammar: 5/5 At the very least, I noticed no issues when I was reading, and it never hurt the reading experience. Any issues I had were with style. - quagmaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0the multiple formats are confusing and hard to read at times. the mirror format is horrifically optimized for both desktop and mobile, so we have chosen to review the smoke format. in the mirror format, the text sizes change constantly, as do the fonts and page breaks. in the smoke format, everything is much cleaner, easier to read.
it is otherwise a slowburning detective mystery with superpowers. the characters have distinct personalities, and apply their abilities in often surprising ways. chapters are fairly short, taking a while to explain exactly what is going on. it's a whimsical noir story.
