Description

Gray Shadow is a young hunter of the Crimson Alder clan, a daughter of the clan’s head. From her early days, she was taught the ways of fidelity and right. She vowed to protect the clan with her own life. When everything she knows turns upside down and powerful forces converge in a struggle for magic and dominance, what should she do as the filial daughter of the clan? Would she stand true to the old principles that no one needs anymore apart from her? Or would she plunge headlong into the abyss, hoping to pass it through and find new morals?

Magic is only a myth—that’s what everyone thought before the arrival of magical creatures brought chaos into the world. No one knows where they came from or how to explain their supernatural abilities. But even before the storm calmed down and most of the vile creatures were either killed or driven out into desolated areas, people realized that their existence proves magic is real and could probably be tamed. Now, the world of Ereia stands on the brisk of magical revolution. Which (as the industrial revolution in some other worlds) will bring a lot of challenges and controversies with it. Is there anything magic could give apart from the deadliest weapons ever known? Only after passing through the hell of a magical war will people understand this.

Messenger of Dawn has potential. The world is filled with interesting crossover creatures that show off the author's creativity. It may seem strange, considering the dangerous creatures roaming these lands, but I want to be in this world. If the reader of this review has ever played the video game "Monster Hunter" then you will know what I mean. The creatures captivate you and you want to see the beautiful Moon Owl and the dangerous wolves. You want to see the main cast battle, tame, and understand them.
But I'm getting away from the shining character.  Gray Shadow  is a young woman wanting to earn her stripes as a hunter. We meet her at a vital moment in her life when she earns her hunter's name. And no gentle owls for this heroine to hunt. She is going after more dangerous prey, despite many warnings. Then we meet more of the main cast, however they do pale in comparison to her in my opinion. We meet her at a coming-of-age moment tinged with excitement and danger.
All I will say is the world and Gray Shadow have drawn me in. I do have to take off marks for grammar mistakes, but its rare a story does not have them. Give Messenger of Dawn of try and drop into a world of danger and charm.
