McKnight's Guide to Magical Fusion
Community Rating
Description
Charles McKnight was a failure. Try as he might, he could not succeed, no matter how hard he tried. A master's in robotics brought him nothing after leaving the field to take care of his poor, sick mother. Now, 20 years later, he was stuck in a dead-end job in an auto repair shop doing work for his alcoholic cousin.
Of course, he still dreamed of robots. He dreamed of them every night. He dreamed of them every day. He even dreamed of them when he was suddenly smashed by a blue 2002 Honda Accord underneath a failed lift in his cousin's garage. He didn't even know he died.
He only found out he was dead when the lady in front of him told him so. Of course, he was told many other things as well. Some of those included statements such as "You are a chosen one!" and "You must save this world from the coming tribulations!" or even "I will grant you one power in this new world!". Of course, only one thing stuck, or, for that matter, even mattered to him at all. He calmly told her, "I want to make robots."

- Katieallen101Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0so far I think this fiction is by far the most intriguing story as for the chapters are a little bit of everything you’d want in an interesting book, it’s got humor as in chapter 8 gets a little bit of cartoon action humor. I typically don’t like reading something unless it catches my eye but the way this fiction is going I’m to the point of reloading the site everyday waiting for the next chapters. This is a book that really makes me want to read more I love this fiction! The grammar and characteristics as well as plot and setting is well described and I just want to say, best fiction I’ve ever read!
- KirbyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall, I like playing classes in games that make little bots, so my expectations are high for wanting this story to be a good read. So far, it is. It's character-driven. The MC has complexity, flaws, and the kind of slow burn that I enjoy. There's a good amount of system stuff and info, but not a distracting amount.
The newest character, who we meet right where I am, is endearing from the beginning. She's an eleven year old girl with her own stuff going on. The author brings her in with her own POV. I might warn the readers about this some some sort of signal. Regarless, she's should be a nice complement to the MC.
The style works as does the grammar. The prose is clean and easy to read. It's not broken up into new paragraphs every line, as is the norm on RR, but that doesn't bother me. In fact, I like chunks of text, prose that flows.
Perhaps the most intriguing part for me is the leveling-up system. He has to collect things to build bots, most of which I don't understand yet and the MC is learning along the way, discovering as he goes, decoding the mystery of the world. Good stuff.
