Description
Who am I?
Kael wakes up in a desolate square surrounded by glowing blue lights with no memory of who he is. Accompanied by a sharp-tongued guide imp named Skrindle, he must build his Square and summon minions to defend his fragile territory.
But survival is far from simple. The nearby human village sees Kael’s square as a tantalizing target, sending adventurers hungry for gold and glory. Each invader brings danger, and every choice threatens his power.
As Kael navigates a dangerous game of rivalries with other Masters, a darker threat begins to emerge. A shadow of something far larger than his humble beginnings. The world has rules but there are hints of Kael's power and intelligence that may defy them.
Can Kael outwit the greedy adventurers, navigate treacherous alliances and carve out a future in a world that thrives on destruction? Or will his inexperience seal his doom before he can even make his mark?
The game is just beginning.

- GenonamRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A fascinating story so far as of chapter 58, with interesting world building and a main character who is straddling the line of extremely foolish.
The main character is walking a very interesting path of being very competent and intelligent, with out straying into being completely over powered. And as the story continues to expand and show threats outside his scope is seeming to be setting up for when he is no longer just a big fish in a small pond. Character writing in general is strong like this, committing to flaws even as characters grow seeing how new situations manifest those same underlying issues. - Fenrir2401Royal Road★★ 2.0"Master of the Square" is one of those dungeon core stories, where the cores (the "masters" here) interact and fight with each other. As such, if you're familiar with these kind of stories you'll find your way in quickly.
Positive is that the story is quite fast-paced; there's not much info-dumping and the story progresses quickly in familiar ways to this genre.
Still, I'll be dropping this here. My problem with this story is mainly the illogical actions and decisions happening here. Almost every major decision the MC and his opponents make do not make sense if you think about them for a bit (at least for me). Even from a inner-world perspective I feel the people here act irrational. One or two characters like that would be ok; almost all of them are too much.
In my oppinion, the MC should have died two, three times by chapter 39 and the only reason he still lives is because of incompehensible actions (or inactions) by his opponents. The MC himself is not much better which makes the repeated statements of other characters of him being a good strategists quite irksome; and there are some glaring "logic holes" in the world-building which haven't been adressed as of yet.
All told, these points are too much for me to enjoy this story.
