Maryn's Tale

Ten-year-old Maryn is about to begin her apprenticeship to become one of the Chosen. But first, she learns that the world is not as safe as she once thought and she will have to make a choice that could change her life forever.

This is a stand-alone story that takes place in the world of my much larger set of novels I'm working on. I love this little tale, but it does not fit well into the greater narrative, so I decided to share it here for all of you to enjoy.
