Description
968.M41. Cadia stands fast against foul xenos incursions, heretical uprisings, and unimaginable horrors spewing from the Eye of Terror. It is a martial life for the Shock Troopers of the 1333rd Cadian Regiment, seconded to their homeworld's Interior Guard for the last six years. Yet, for Staff Sergeant Silas Cross, affectionately known as 'Marsh Silas,' this complacent, monotonous service will change. Soon, Marsh will find himself embarking on a long journey, one that will take him not only across Cadia's sacred soil but that of the Imperium's realm, fraught with peril, obstacles, self-discovery, thought, doubt, faith, love, loss, despair, comradeship, darkness, and hope. A soldier through and through, Marsh Silas will find his mind, his fortitude, and his faith challenged as he struggles to leave a little good in the Imperium he serves and to enfranchise the people he loves so dearly

- SamiKamiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Marsh Silas series is an excellently crafted work of literature. Following the main and titular protagonist Marsh Silas and Co on an interesting and beginner friendly adventure to Warhammer 40K, this series boasts the quality of a properly written and published novel.
The character development and growth is amazing to see, and feels real rather than just arbitrarily changing characters as time passes. Events stick with and define characters and their future actions. Even secondary and tertiary characters have visible and logical progression and growth, something that not many fanfictions I’ve read take the care to do.
Ambrose’s writing style is amazing as well. A very simple to understand but detailed sense of writing makes it very easy to imagine these scenes unfolding directly in front of you. I’m no author, but this is a masterclass in how to write and tell a story effectively and from a character’s point of view.
The characters themselves are balanced and very well made for the setting that is Warhammer 40K. Not overpowered and winning every fight they get involved in, the story is very interesting.
For the incredibly vast setting that is Warhammer 40K, this story is incredibly beginner friendly. Almost everything you need to know is creatively elaborated on in the story, which only helps its appeal.
11/10, would read again for the first time if I could. I read the entire series in 3 days. - NeslonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Well written and interesting. I think it's well put together. The paragraphs are a hair longer than average on here but it's very descriptive not just exposition. The author tal s his time introducing the 40k atmosphere so those unfamiliar won't be totally lost but also leaves a lot of details unexplained for the reader to pickup as they go. All in all I think the beginning is well done and worth checking out the first few chapters.
