- Saga FrostRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you like anime, then Marry X Princess is definitely something you should check out. Not only is Aaron a great writer, but he also posts commissions of his character from other artists, which gives you a chance of seeing how they look through his eyes.
The story is interesting, and the world building awakes a curiosity in you. The world in MxP is a mix of both medieval-like and modern fantasy, which is a very interesting combo. One that works really great here. I’ve really enjoyed some of the lore drops and am excited to learn more about this world.
The characters are great. They’re deep with both strengths and weaknesses. Aaron does a great job in conveying each character and what they stand for, I can understand and sympathize with almost all of them. That doesn’t mean they’re out of faults, but Aaron writes them in a way where you can understand where they’re coming from. My favorite one is Mizuki and I'm always glad to see her make an apperance.
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve read so far of MxP and I’m looking forward to continue reading it. I cannot recommend this book enough!
PS. Let him have his pudding, please. - nah_just_deadpoolRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the first chapter, the author hooked my affection with his main character, my boy Shinsuke. How a noble action - saving the life of another - could utterly bring his own life to ruin is a magnificent basis on its own; however, the author did not just leave it there. With every new situation that my poor boy found himself in, I couldn't help but shake my own fist at the sky in his stead, but through his trials and tribulations, he has proven himself time and time again.
Each chapter almost seems like I'm reading a manga instead of a book. The beautiful anime style is on full display throughout the story. The characters, each written to near perfection in their respective roles, leave lasting impressions with each word uttered. For any wanting a wonderful binge or for those who love being on the edge of their seats between chapters, this is one of the best works for it. - usernames are annoyingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has more depth and quality than I was expecting. When I first clicked on it I expected it to be more like one of those trashy, fast food like, wish fulfillment books, but I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised. One recommendation I would give is to give the mc some male friends though. Other than that it’s a great book.
- AACrowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the premise and the first two chapters are promising! The character of Shinsuke is portrayed well and his disdain for other people is quite ironic, given what the story is about. I can't wait to see what shenanigans await him. Will update my review once more chapters are out.
Update: I promised to update my review after I finished the story so here I am, delivering on that promise.
This story is really so much more than it lets on to be at first glance. I won't go into details because I don't want my review to contain any spoilers but just know that you are in for a treat with this one!
All the characters are portrayed very well and their motivations, drive and desires aren't lost on an attentive reader. The author shows their deep understanding of emotion, connections and the human condition with their characterisation.
The grammar is basically flawless, especially now after the edits. I may have to reread it for the added scenes in some chapters.
The story itself is unique in its premise and captivates you immediately. The idea of wanting OUT of an engagement but the only way to do so was to fight your way to your freedom has previously, at least to my knowledge, not been explored yet. Structurally it's very well set up with the stakes rising up until the much awaited climax on which it delivers beautifully. It leaves you wanting to know more about these characters and continue the journey with them. Excited for where the second book takes us! - SniperkingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was spectacular. I devoured all the chapters in one go, and now I can't wait for more. But the thing I appreciate the most right now is the writing quality. So many stories on RR are riddled with grammatical mistakes, and there are stories with 5-star ratings for grammar but filled with multiple errors in each chapter. I just want to appreciate the author's impeccable editing skills and command of the English language.
- IReadYouFromThisBookRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Man I was so bored of constant crappy stories and no depth characters. But this one is GOOD. Like way good. First of all the plot is unique in its own right. To top it off the writing style of our dear author is too good potraying beautifully the relationship between characters. It just got that real-life like feel to it. The character feel real. There are few to none grammer mistakes. Heck my review will have more grammer mistake than this whole story (volume 1).
I think the art style for some characters can be improved upon. I think this book really deserves an anime.
Just one tiny request to author to add more character depth to the story. I find the character to be a bit shallow. Like you can make some spare chapters from the other characters pov. I think doing that adds a real depth to the story and makes the whole story even more interesting.
I - Cyber30Royal Road★★ 2.0This was honestly a constant series of events that led me down frustration and second hand embrassment. Every character acts in extreme ways, and they are all horrible people. From uncaring parents who send thier kids on errands in the middle of the night with on going crimes. To unsympathetic friends, and even worse further side characters such as the selfish princess or even infantalising and insulting teachers. I don't think I have read anything that inspired so many mild but negative emotions in me in such a small amount of time.
