Description

Marvin is travelling with a group of entertainers when they are scooped up into a wandering Trial and have to survive. Marvin started life as a Rogue and specialised into a Thief. Then he got an Illusionist class and became Marvin the Magnifique! He will need to make this the performance of his life, or that is what it will cost him.

Marvin has developed a philosophy about Trials. In his words,I disagree with people who say Trials are there to help you get stronger. Trials are definitely there to kill you and cheat you on your rewards. You get stronger by saying, “frack you” to the trial and surviving anyway.

This is a story from theInfinite World Universe by JT Wright. The first half of JT’s first book is set in a wandering Trial or Dungeon calledThe Land of the Undying Lord. This story wonders what would happen if the Trial collected some random people and how they might survive.

I explain the basics in the story, but if you want to know more about the mechanics and Trial Keepers and Spirits, you will need to read the original books.

There are some spoilers from the later books.

    if you like infinite world and hwfm.. if you like a character that has a troubled past but whose  interactions with others seems to bring positive change.  if you like evolving class/es and synchronicity. also somehow fast but slow, i mean the story moves but enough details to feel connections ..

    This is a lot of fun. It's a step above, writing wise. I really like how the story moves. It's not too drawn out. The author is more than willing to make use of time skips for general basic and uninteresting growth. The fights are fun and last long enough without sticking around too long. While a fanfic for JT Wright's The Infinite World, there are some really fun extrapolations and ideas for growth of the system. It's clear that King Dad has a sense for how Wright's system and world work. His riffs make sense and fit within the existing framework of the original material. I did have to take off half a star because people only ever scull potions. That's a good three dollar word that gets a tad overused.
