This is another unique addition to the royal road selection, a rather grimdark addition I might add, featuring healthy amount of trauma and body horror. Writing's smooth, spelling is great, and I'm all round looking forward to where this will go.

This work stands out from the vast majority of magical girl stories on the site by pushing hard on the horror theme rather than progression or overcoming poverty or trauma. The trauma is happening right now, and Rebecca has to find some way to cope with it. It seems heavily inspired by Nowhere Stars, which is a good thing as that story is an absolute standout, but with some key tweaks in premise that allow for a completely different type of story.
The writing is compelling and emotional for the most part, although there are some areas where it can be noticeably bare-bones, places where a few extra lines of feeling or descriptive text could serve to bring a scene to life.
The version of magical girls presented here is quite interesting, and allows for varied dynamics between the girls. They are not superheroes or paragons of virtue, they have a lot of sharp edges and many opportunity for various degrees of conflict.
Overall, although it is still early, I have very high hopes for this story as it is presented; the world is dark and callous and ruthless, and Rebecca simply isn't built to handle it as she is now. I'm very, very interested in seeing how she will change.
