Description
All he wanted was to disappear. What he found wouldn’t let him go.
Humanity clings to survival in fortified cities, learning to live beside the horrors that slipped in from another plane. Monsters now walk freely among the ruins of the old civilisation.
For a runaway boy scraping by on the streets, danger is nothing new. Hunted by violent men and ignored by a society too busy surviving, he’s learned to trust no one. But when he crosses paths with a strange, otherworldly being – one unlike any he’s seen before – his life takes a turn for the surreal.
The creature is powerful, unpredictable, and completely alien in thought. It breaks boundaries as easily as bodies, and the boy wants nothing more than to be rid of it. But fate – or an unbreakable, incomprehensible will – keeps pulling them together.
As tension builds and an uneasy bond begins to form, a far greater danger looms. And it’s not from the monsters outside the walls.

- RanranbollyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story crafts a unique and dark world, but doesn’t immediately jump into the element we expect from chapter one wherein we are introduced immediately to a demonic character. They take their time crafting the protagonist, who has an incredibly dry and often abrasive personality — for good reasons, which I do not want to spoil. All in all, a good and very dark read.
- SKNit3Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, the MC is by far the most interesting character. The MC shows a blend of fear, frustration, sarcasm and dark humor. The story itself is more of a post apocalypse like setting where dangerous creatures roam. The MC seems to have a longing for death, which I personally dig. The imagery in the story is also well executed. Overall good story, I will totally recommend.
- authenticYRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It begins slow 😭 and I really had to exercise my patience for like 7 instalments. It was confusing too, because world building takes a back seat here. By which I mean there aren't endless dumps of unnecessary info. Everything new gets unveiled as the need arrives and it frankly wasn't bad way to approach this brand new world. I wasn't in this for the smut anyhow, so exploration and discovery aspect of the monster invasion filled the want for some deeper plot 💝 the fic had my interest but when the goings on unveiled themselves - it had my full attention 😬
- dvydvyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The dynamic between two leads is something else. It's not push and pull. They are yank and yeet one another off a steep cliff. I really didn't think that can be reconciled anymore but it sure seems to be going that way 😳 and it's not feeling forced!!! That's near impossible to pull off. I love the interactions btw. Relationship shifts from hate to caution to tentative fondness so naturally.
- maverick13Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read this on tapas first! It has been an absolute blast, in a deliciously agonizing way. There are so many things going wrong here at any given time. Any and all happiness is fleeting, The moment you think things will be okay now, it gets bad. When you think it can't possibly get any worse - you're proven absolutely wrong! You are so wrong. The depths of despair in here are insane.
Oh BUT the dark humor balances everything out, and so well. The reprieve and sweetness when they do arrive are to die for! Mark my words. The couples dynamic is so vicious, twisted. The chemistry here is thru da roof! when they do eventually work things out, all the damage of their actions remains, it's blatantly obvious and irrepairable, they need to live with the choices made. which is realistic and I'm here for it too.
I love to hate the demon, he is so overbearing, His best of intentions are infuriating -at best. That's because clueless at human things, but poor thing tries so hard. The pov guy has hit rock bottom so many times, the strange antics don't even phase him. In fact, he throws his own chaos into the dumpster fire. The way they come to understand each other as the time passes is to die for!
10/10 will read again lol. - quagmaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0it's a dark and wild romp of slow burning alien love. a post apocalypse. kinda funny, kinda gross. but in a good way. the creatures and monsters are suitably terrifying, well described, and interesting to see how both the aliens and the humans are adjusting to suddenly being in a whole new world.
